do you think it was the chili?? thats not good. it doesnt seem long enough since surgery though to be having spices i would imagine. what do you think? i know with all my surgeries the most intense healing period is the following six weeks. perhaps to leave the spices for about three months?/ Have they established that you definately have dilation of the esophagus?? is that going to be a big problem for you?? i hope that its not.

I honestly don't know if it was the chili, but I do know i had 4cc filler in my band from surgery. So he took it out. He said my symptoms where not typical, but you can't compare since everyone is different. So I'm on liquids till I feel better then I can try mushies. Maybe I was just over tight and need to heal. I go back in 3 weeks. And no it was not a confirmed case of dilation. But def. have reflux back. At least I can get more liquids in now :)

.. at least you can get liquids in. how scary. im not having any filler at all when the band is inserted apparantly. i did ask the dr about that. i think i do prefer that. i reckon there will be enough swelling without any fill for a while. i hope that your problem eases very quickly.

I am 1 1/2 weeks post op and I love spicy foods. A bottle of Franks sits on my dining table. No problems eating it at all

I think if we were used to eating certain foods then our bodies will be more accepting of those foods again.

I love chili Beans (they are my comfort foods) and I have never had any problems. I ate the juice in the beginning and now can eat the Beans also. A friend of my stays away from the beans she said they do a number of her stomach.

Everyone is different

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
