Too Tight; Miserable; Not Losing

Recommended Posts

I had my last fill at the end of January 2012 and now have 7cc in my 10cc band. Since that day I have thrown up pretty much every day almost every meal...my saliva gets so thick I have to throw it up I can't eat any Protein I can't eat before 2pm or it gets stuck only thing I can do is drink coffee in the mornings along with Protein Shakes oh and by 4 pm I am so hungry I eat chips because that's all that will go down! I made an appointment for tomorrow to get some Fluid taken out! I hope to get some relief so I can have some chicken salads again!!!! The first 2-3 weeks of my fill I lost 10 pounds but haven't lost anything since! I need change cause I can't live like this!!!

Usually it will loosen up if you lose a bit of weight but at this point its probably best to get a tiny bit taken out...

As counter-intuitive as it sounds, weight loss tends to stop when we are too tight.

It sounds like an unfill is in order for you. Hope you feel better soon!

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. You will be surprised that by taking out just a little Fluid it will make a big difference. You should have to suffer. Good Luck.

Thanks for the responds ladies! Yeah I kept waiting for it to loosen up but it's been over a month and it hasn't changed! I use to eat 5 small meals a day and I was working out so I lost pretty good but now I'm not hardly eating and when I do it's junk that I know will go Down! I really think I can do better with less Fluid and eat an work out because I work out really good just need the food!!

Speaking from recent experience, you are DEFINITELY too tight. I was in the same situation and didn't want to get an unfill because of course you want to lose more weight and you keep thinking oh it will loosen up! Well being stubborn, I wound up in the ER because I was completely dehydrated and they took out ALL of the Fluid I had in the band, now I've been at 0 fills for about a month, have gained 3 pounds back and just barely got an appt. for another fill today, which I have to start all over again. All because I didn't want to go back and get a little unfill. Trust me it's not worth it! Good Luck

I have 6mls in a 10ml band and have not had any restriction i'm still putting on weight and feel like I've wasted an awful lot of mone, I've not been able to change the way I eat, so I know why I'm still gaining, I think I should of had a gastric bypass as it would of had an immediate affect

Although everyone's body is different, it does sound like at 6mls you should be feeling some restriction. I would def. speak to the Dr. about this. The band does work, don't give up so easily, if you are not getting the answers you want from your Dr. go get a second opinion. In the mean time do your best to control your eating, this is not helping the situation any all you are doing is possibly stretching out the band. Hopefully you will start feeling restriction soon and begin losing weight.

Yeah crazy as it sounds even though I eat a very small amount a day and work out I still don't lose any weight I really figured I would but then I realized when I do eat it's junk food! So that's why I'm not losing anything! Eating more really does help you lose better ....eating the right things I mean.

My experience is get some taken out you are to tight.

Often we are afraid to do that because we are afraid we will gain. As someone said to tight you don't loose.

Good luckWendy

fluff at 6cc in a 10cc band, I had no restriction. We're all different. Took me about 8cc in a 10cc band to feel it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
