lobster mmmmm.....

Recommended Posts

I am having my first fill on Monday- yay! I was soo encouraged by a gal who was waiting for her appointment at the same time as me. she was banded last March and has lost 90lb. She looked fantastic! She assured me that weight just drops off once you get a fill- hopefully this will be true for me too! I could do with some restriction!!!

I must confess I have had a little bit of the last supper syndrome happen since I made the fill appointment! I seem to recall a few of you saying that this does happen. Last night we had lobster for my son's birthday....... Uh-uh! Not a good idea! You just can NOT chew it finely enough! It caused me some pain and lots of salivation! Oh well my DH has lots of cold lobster leftovers today.

This experience gave me an interesting insight. lots of people at work have commented that I "took the easy way out"!!!!! Well it occurred to me last night just what a drastic step I have taken- this is no "easy" way. Every single thing I place in my mouth for the rest of my life will be carefully considered and even more carefully chewed- this is not easy.

Hi Seanmama,

I agree with what you are saying about this "not" being an easy way out! As I sit here only 5 days out of surgery, I would like to see one of the people saying that live in my shoes for a day!

We do have to think about each new food and how our bands will react. Also, what about those of us who were already eating healthy and exercising and could still do nothing but lose and gain the same 3 lbs. This is my story and I think one of the reasons why I have chosen not to tell many people about my Lap-Band.

I go to Weight Watchers and I will continue now that I am banded... but this time, I am more likely to reach my goal. I won't keep going every week and feeling disappointed when I ate within my points, exercised, drank my Water and journaled my food and didn't lose a thing!

Stay strong and positive... I know you will be successful with the help of your "tool".

Take Care,

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
