MOMIOF3CV 11 Posted March 5, 2012 Hi. I am almost one year post op. I have noticed, from time to time that my stomach hurts near the port site. Like a sore muscle. Or I can feel it like it is swollen. Mostly it is after I eat. I also can no longer sleep on my left side and if I roll over on my stomach during the night, it wakes me. Uncomfy. Anyone else have this?
Pollyanna12 74 Posted March 5, 2012 Yikes! I am a stomach sleeper and was stressed about how I would survive the 2 or so weeks post surgery... Good luck I hope it calms for you
1shauna1 129 Posted March 5, 2012 Yes, sometimes it seems my port is irritated on the left. Also, with waistbands of pants/skirts; sometimes I need to readjust things.
cfalbro 23 Posted March 5, 2012 I'm only 5 days post op and sleeping on my left side is not an option. Sounds like it may never be...
TracieR 88 Posted March 5, 2012 That stinks! Just wanted to let you know that I have no issue with any pain by my port, could be the placement of yours. I would ask my doctor. Good Luck!!
Lap Band Gal 41 Posted March 5, 2012 Yes, this happens to me. Especially when I eat too much. My port area I think rubs against my stomach when it is so full. But laying on my left side makes it feel better.
sweetsoutherngirl 32 Posted March 5, 2012 I have to use a small pillow to lay on my side comfortably.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted March 5, 2012 I've slept on my sides since the day of surgery and on my tummy within two days after. I guess I'm lucky but I've never had an issue with mine. I never feel it, it never hurts, and honestly I forget it's even there unless I see the scar or am getting a fill.
bev712 28 Posted March 5, 2012 I use a pillow, too. Maybe as you get down to your ideal weight there's less cushioning around the port.
elcee 3,341 Posted March 5, 2012 I sleep on both sides with no issue.
kll724 3,055 Posted March 5, 2012 I, almost, always have used and still use a pillow to sleep on my side. I don't really need to , but find mysef more comfortable that way. I have had days where overeating will cause pain.
transforming jlaroux 78 Posted March 5, 2012 sometimes I have pain in my port area, and have trouble sleeping because of it. But the pain I feel when I sleep on my sides is because I have less padding to keep it soft and squishy! lol
MOMIOF3CV 11 Posted March 7, 2012 Thank you. I do think it is from over eating. I just had a late snack, since I have not eaten all day and now it is sore. Think I need to go to weight watchers or something. Had coffee for Breakfast and lunch and had no problem all day. But now that I am sitting here, it is starting to bother me. Thank you.
