Is This Possible?

Recommended Posts

I just got my first fill and during my first week I felt no restriction. I was a bit discouraged because I pay out of pocket for my fills and I don't want to break the bank trying achieve my restriction level... anyways I noticed this week I feel more restriction and have been getting stuck on just about anything solid even when well chewed... so my question is... is it possiable for a fill to not take effect right away? I know I should ask my doctors office but they are always busy and I'm a private person by nature so that's why I'm taking advantage of this forum.

I think you should feel the restriction right away. I know it's pricey to get fills, but it's worth it. Getting a band without fills is like getting a car without tires--it's not going to do you much good. I think most people need between 3-6 fills to hit their green zone.

Hang in there!

It is not uncommon for fills to kick in one to two weeks later.

It is normal to have a delayed reaction to a fill, up to 2 weeks! Crazy isn't it? It doesn't make much sense but it happens. I had a fill last week too and the restriction took 6 days to kick in. Don't get to tight though!

My last fill took a good two weeks to kick in. I was discouraged at first because I thought I was near restriction and didn't notice a difference. Two weeks later....HOLY COW....everything was getting stuck. One night my hubby was practically warming up the car to take me to ER I had such a bad episode. I'm supposed to get another on Wednesday, but not sure I need one. I don't want to get too tight, especially since I'm flying to Vegas the beginning of April. So, my answer to your question is, yes, it IS possible for the fill to take a while to kick in! :)

I've had fills take up to 2 weeks to kick in. I've also had fills that felt way too tight at first, but as I readjusted my eating (take tiny bites, chew very well, eat slowly, etc.), that too tight feeling went away.

Thank you so much for your responces... and I now feel so much better to know that it can take a couple weeks to feel the fills restriction. I pay 200 dollers for every fill so it could get pricey quick. But I don't have any regrets because I lost 40 pounds without a fill and since I got 4cc in my band I've lost 4 more pounds. I love my band!
