Banders: Do You Still Love Food?

Recommended Posts

Preband, I would assume most would confess a love affair with food.

Now that you've been banded, have you fallen out of love with food? Or have you fallen in love with different food?

Just curious to hear how you feel about it now!

I have been banded a little over 8 months and yes I still love food, just a different type. Before I was in love with fast food, but I couldn't even tell you the last time I had that! I now enjoy trying new healthy foods!

Im not even three weeks out of surgery but I have to say that I have found a new love for chicken. I believe that the 2 week south beach phase 1 diet helped in bringing that out. I would have taken a steak over chicken before but now I can honestly say that I prefer the chicken. I've been in the process of developing some tasty, healthy recipes and I look forward everyday to trying each out.

I also never ate many veggies before (unless they were battered dipped and deep fried). During the pre op phase, I remembered that as a kid I loved string Beans. I've been eating them with a new passion. And, for whatever reason, I have found that I like spinach (never did before).

Yes, I still love food, but it is no longer the love of my life. I'm a little bit more objective about food now, appreciate it for its nutrition as well as its taste, but I've got so many other interesting things going on in my life now that food is not my #1 interest these days.

I still love the idea of certain foods, and the taste....but many times I hate food for the amount I get stuck. I still think I obsess over it though. :-(

I still love food but take this love to cooking and experiementing with new ideas and new recipies which i can safely eat and that doesn't put on weight and helps me stay healthy. I always did eat a healthy diet, just too much of it and no exercise, now i eat less and exercise so my love of food hasnt changed since being banded.

I still love food and I always will. Now that I am eating slower and chewing more, I am appreciating the subtle tastes on my palate. I no longer feel compelled to finish huge portions, so I enjoy my meals more.

I still love food. But in a different way. I really look for high quality/taste now. Where before it was quantity not quality.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
