Moving Along ... Again!

Recommended Posts

My appointment went well. Dr. V is going to my insurance and feels confident enough to have me go ahead with the remaining pre-surgical tests: chest x-ray, EKG, exercise physiology, and abdominal ultra sound. The ultra sound isn't routinely required, but I've been having some upper abdominal pain lately, and he's checking for gall stones. If I have gall stones, he'll take my gallbladder at the same time. He said with his schedule, it's still likely to be two months before surgery. I'm hoping he's wrong, but at least I'm making progress again, rather than waiting.

Congrats - two months will go by quickly. I'm sure once they get your approval thing will spin out of control so quick. It will take a few weeks to get your testing done. ALso, if your gallbladder needs to come out I'm glad he can do it all at once.

Good Night - I am off for surgery in the morning. I might never drink apple juice again in my life, I hope to never see phospho-soda again either.

I don't know if the upper GI or this was nastier to drink.

Jen

Our prayers to with you Jennifer! Do you think Joe would call or e-mail me to let me know how you're doing?

Once you have a date, you really won't care if its 1 month or three...believe me. Its like a huge burden lifted and you think "it's finally going to happen" And besides you have all of us to make the time go faster.

Karen, keep your face in the wind and the sun at your back. You can smell them coming and they won't be able to see you till it's too late. I know it will happen for you. One way or the other.

Thanks Randy! You're "here" in support of your wife? Are you banded too? Is she active on the board too?

See what happens when you rarely venture out of the NC forum?! LOL Yep, MsJoy's DH is the 'puter guy of the couple, and he's super nice. Not banded. Very supportive, too!

Karen, you can start to get occasionally giddy, now. It's happening!!

Until I have insurance approval and a date, I'll try to contain myself :)

Kathy is correct, mostly....hehehe I'm not banded and I try to support MsJoy as much as I can. I try being nice and "kidding" with everyone to bring a smile to some faces. But I can't help being a "horn dawg". LOL

Randy, from the posts I've seen from you so far, you have been very supportive. I'm sure your DW really appreciates the support too! As for being a "horn dawg", that's natural; I haven't met too many men that aren't, although few will publicly admit to it. :couch2:

Karen, I'm sure you've heard about the time when Davidson (as in Harley Davidson) went to heaven and was explaining to God that if he had made women more like a motorcycle, men would have enjoyed it so much more. Riding thru the countryside, the wind, the sun, the adventure.... God replies, "Davidson, as I recall, more men ride MY model than ride yours." And I readily admit it...

Bravo Randy! I like that one :couch2: Even us conserative types can appreciate a witty sense of humor.

In a preacher's sermon he proclaims, "We are all but dust!" In the quiet of the service, a little girls voice can easily be heard as she earnestly asks her mother, "Mommy, what's butt dust?" The sermon ended right then with congregation's rolling laughter.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
