maria75 0 Posted February 21, 2006 Hello, my name is Maria and I live near Seattle, WA. I am currently doing research so that I can have the lap band surgery. I am considering having it done by Dr.Kuri or Dr.Aceves. I have heard lots of good things @ Dr.Kuri, but haven't seen much on Dr.Aceves. All of your information is great, and I hope to be able to make new friends from this site, and get help with finding the right doctor. Good luck to all of you in your weight loss journeys :clap2: Maria

Amanda 0 Posted March 1, 2006 Would not recommend Dr. Kuri. I feel like he does not LISTEN to his patients, and when you have problems he thinks you're lying, and you're on your own to deal with them. He always returns calls and is very friendly, but doesn't do the testing necessary to find out what's going wrong. He does so many surgeries that there is a bit of an assembly line feeling about it all. And I didn't find his support staff did the job. I never got pre-op or post-op information until I asked for it. We were just dropped off at the hospital with no one to let us know what was going on. He's a nice man and may also be a good surgeon, but you need someone who will be with you post-surgery as well. It's $9,000 with him, and you can get it done in San Francisco for $12,000, and probably cheaper in other locations.
PhotoNut 7 Posted March 1, 2006 Hi Maria! Welcome to LBT. I know there are some folks in your area that post here. I'm sure you'll be hearing from them soon. We have a great bunch of people here. Best of luck in your decision making process. Do lots and lots of research. As someone recently said, 'there are lots of surgeons, but only one you'.

DonnaB 3 Posted March 2, 2006 Hi, Welcome to LBT. When I first came here I kept wondering and asking about abbreviations in conversations. To make it easier for yourself you might want to check out the “FAQ’s and Resources” Forum. There are a couple of threads about abbreviations which will help you understand what people are talking about. HTH (hope this helps!) and good luck to you.
