Hey Becca, just north of me! Your son moved out then back in? Mom and aunt live in the neighborhood? Dad in law down by me, how's his heart? You had a fall (bike wreck) that damaged your throat and you didn't need fills, phathom restriction?

I'm thinking all day about you and gross Darcey, and the old times hope I'm not bring back odd stuff...

You're too funny Vera. That's close. My DH's mom and sis live near you. My dad was just down there (with us) long enought to have a heart bypass. I forgot about Gross Darcy. :car:

I eventually found out that my bike wreck did not damage my throat...just swollen around it for a while. My esophagus problem is dysmotility, the muscles don't squeeze things through efficiently. It is fine without a fill, and I've been unfilled for six months. I'm going to try a fill again next month. I hope I can tolerate it because I have gained a few pounds. I have always had some restriction with the band alone -- lucky for me.

How are you doing?

Thanks for asking about my mom. Things are a little slow for her, she doesn't eat the right things, OLD habits are really hard to break when you're old too. Then again, it's really slow for me too.

How's your embr. doing? Did you ever get to be the master of your machine?

More Hugs to you both.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Yep Pat... I became the master of that machine and while I was working at the dealership I got a really fancy machine at cost so the original one is up for bid on eBay. I'm a nervous wreck selling something that expensive on there and have nearly cancelled the listing a hundred times!

I know what you mean about slow... unfortunately... I am packing it on rather quickly... it seems like going uphill should be slower! *sigh* On a positive note... at least I have not gained it ALL back yet. Help.

A HUGE welcome back Becky!

Okay, okay Crystal (Vines), I'm here.

Darcy, you can call off the search for me, but we need to work on Teresa. The last time I heard from heard, she wanted to meet for coffee and I couldn't go! Darn!

I know I've been away because I lost my band last summer and I've gain back pretty much all my weight :welldone2:

BUT, I've scheduled a rebanding on April 7th with Dr. Ortiz in MX and I've met a doctor here in Oregon that is willing to do my aftercare and he thinks Dr. Ortiz is a really good guy.

WHOOWHEE! Celebration for reunions around here!

Hello Alexandra and Trish and Darcey and NJChick! Good to see ya'all again.

April 7th isn't too far away. I'm so glad you are going to have it replaced, Darcey.

Alexandra -- you are still holding down the fort. What a woman! My band is doing fine, just haven't had a fill for six months. Going in for one next month and will try again. The dysmotility really acts up when I have any fill, but I really need some help with the ol' appetite. :hungry: Even without the fill, I have been staying in a reasonable range, so I'm thankful for that. How's it going for you? Your picture looks skinnnnnny! And I mean that in a good way. :biggrin1:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
