Stuck! No Results...

It will be a year in July that I was banded and I've only lost 30 lbs! I don't eat much yet the weight loss is at a stand still. Started exercising and drinking more Water. Seems like I just cant break the cycle and start seeing the results! Any suggestions?

Break what cycle? Are you eating the right foods? What is your guess on how many calories per day? Do you feel any restriction? Do you need a fill?

If you just started exercising then give it time and not all of us can lose weight by just not eating much, its what you eat that is important. Some people can lose just by eating small amounts of normal food others need low fat/low carb/low sugar for the weight to come off, people like me who had a ton of weight to lose had to eat 1000 calories a day and exercise every day. The more muscle you put on the more calories you burn by just being alive.. I have done exercise every day for a year now, lol i still dont like it much but it works for me so i keep at it :)

Track what you eat, some use fitness pal on here to track their food and find it really helpful, which will help u look at your intake v calories burned ..

Good luck with it, do u need another fill ?

How long ago did you start your exercise routine? How many times a week and for how long? What are you doing for exercise?

How much Protein are you taking in Daily?

How many grams of carbs are you taking in and then how many grams of fat daily?

Finally how many calories are you taking in per day?

I can try to give you some pointers if you can answer these questions for me :)

I can't add much to what the others have offered. But 30 lbs in a year is a good weight loss, actually. I know I'd have had a hard time losing that amount on my own. It's also pretty close to the rate at which I averaged in my weight loss phase.

We don't all lose rapidly. Lap Band literature says AVERAGE of 1-2 lbs per week. I lost an average of 0.75 per week. So I was less than average---the story of my life ;-)

But by sticking to my Lap Band rules and habits, that 0.75 lb average turned into 71 lbs gone. And they have stayed gone for 2 years now.

If you are eating nutritious foods in a quantity that has you satisfied, but you are not losing--you might need a fill. If you have adequate restriction but you are chosing low quality, high calorie foods, then adjust your diet. If you can ONLY eat soft, crummy foods due to your band's tightness, then you need an unfill so that you can eat more nutritionally dense foods (counter intuitive, yes, effective, yes).

Thanks guys! I am guilty of not doing any of the above!

I don't drink my Protein shakes as needed. By the time I remember it's either lunch time or dinner time and then I chose to eat solids.

My Iron is low and I forget my Vitamins at times. I started walking at night 3 times a week and we go hiking on the weekends. I don't eat much and not really eating bad things. I only eat maybe once a day and find myself eating dinner because everyone else is eating too!

My frustration is that I was able to lose 15 lbs before the surgery - I was on the opti fast diet of 800 calories a day! but then after surgery, if you really add it up I've only lost 15 lbs! total of 30lbs and in 4 months it will be a year since my surgery.

Maybe if I follow someone else daily eating plan it would be easier for me to stay on track? I just dont know anyone else who has done this procedure and no support groups around for me to attend?

You can find tons of support right here on this site :) I know Just reading peoples stories helps me alot and keeps me motivated. Something that might help you is to sit down and write out a daily meal plan. I do it and it helps me to stay on track. I write down the food, calories, fat, carbs and Protein, I write in each meal and each snack and calculate each row, then I know when my day starts what I am going to eat through out the day and I don't venture off of that. Just make sure you have at least one Protein Shake a day, that is vital for the weightloss. It sounds like you are doing well with your walking. Once you have done that for a couple of weeks change it up a little, go to a class at your local gym or do some circut training, or some biking, just something different If you do the same exercise continuously your body becomes used to it and you will plateau with your weightloss also throw in two days of 30 min to and hour of resistance/strength training too, the more more muscle you build up the more fat you burn. Hope this helps a little and good luck to you! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
