Any Bandsters In Vancouver?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I am fairly new to LBT and banding. Only two weeks since surgery. Doing well and enjoying learning and getting to know some great people on here. Just wondering if there are many out on the west coast going through it too?

I am new to this site too. Had my surgery may 2012 in Toronto with dr Cobourn. But I live in Vancouver so have been getting fills at cambie surgery centre. I have been to the support group meetings at cambie and its been great meeting people and hearing their stories. You should come!

Hi,

I am going through the program at Garrett Wellness in Richmond. My surgeon is Dr. Nam Nguyen. Hoping to have surgery this summer. Was originally set on the lapband..... But opinionated people are making me second guess my decision and now I am also considering Sleeve. Starting weight was 360, I've lost 30 lbs on my own, hoping to lose another 30 before surgery leaving me with a goal of losing 100-120 lbs with the band.

Hi!

Not from Vancouver, but Kelowna. I was banded Nov 16, 2012 by doctor Tang in Victoria. Starting wait was 305, was just down there on Wednesday to follow up and I'm proud to say I weighed exactly 205 at my appt :) haven't had any fills, probably won't since I only want to lose another 35lbs because I am 5'10.

Best wishes on everybody's journeys!

How is everyone doing? I gained 12 lbs this summer and I am still struggling with the last 6 lbs! Plus I have chronic acid reflux that has gotten worse that has me making poor choices. So I am back to 2 hour workouts and Protein shakes... The basics always work! Have a great weekend all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
