destiny:) 3 Posted February 28, 2012 Its been two years since I got the lap band. My hair was super long and thick before surgery and now it's thin and barely will grow past my shoulders! Any advice on how to get it to grow again? Thanks! 1 gljjackson reacted to this
twi 40 Posted February 28, 2012 Biotin. I take one every day but haven't been banded that long. Sooo just trying to make sure. I have read post when people loose hair they take biotin and it helps. I also take cal multi and Omega

NWgirl 574 Posted February 28, 2012 I have heard you need to make sure you are getting enough Protein as well. My surgeon gave me a basic calculation of body weight x .3 = recommended protein.

StephanieF 1 Posted March 6, 2012 Had the same problem. Went to a nutritional MD gave me 17 diff supplements and even IV Vitamins. The hair grew back once my weight stabilized. Sudden spurts in weight loss seemed to kick it in again. My hair will never be the thick curly hair it was. I started doing the Brazilian straightening (keratin) and my hair has grown a lot and is in great shape

kmt1973 92 Posted March 21, 2012 I have been taking 2000 mg of Biotin just as a precaution. BUT, my nutritionist said it wasn't needed, that the Protein is what keeps your hair healthy.
NWgirl 574 Posted March 21, 2012 I am also taking 5000 mg of Biotin. Figure better safe than sorry.
LynnM 2 Posted April 1, 2012 Protein , Protein and protein. I had a friend that had gastric bypass and because he didn't realize he needed lots of protein. He went from a head full of hair to almost bald. So like I said protein, eat and drink protein. There are whey protein low carb powder shakes at Walmart with 52 grams of protein. Drink 1 a day. That should help out. And of course take liquid or chewable multi Vitamins. (: Lynn Philippians 4:13 <><
