Could I have stretched my pouch during Bansters Hell? I'm so discouraged and feel like Im in a tail spin. Eating more than a cup at each sitting and never feeling satisfied. Full but not satisfied. sad.png I want that feeling right after surgery. I want to eat to live not live to eat.

Not likely, it actually takes a long time damage your pouch. Most likely you haven't reached proper restriction yet. When were you banded? What is your fill level like?

I was wondering the same thing. I don't have a fill yet and I think I am pushing the envelope with my eating. I am also afraid I have stretched my pouch or made the band slip. 1 month post-op and now the swelling is probably down wouldnt that allow for the band to slip because it would be looser?

It takes a while to get to proper restriction. Some it takes more, others it doesnt. If I have more than 5cc I throw up everytime I eat so my surgeon has to be really careful when I go in for fills. I have not had my band slip before but I have read about other people that have and it seems that it would be EXTREMELY painful so if you had a slip you would know. But like I said it will take a couple of fills before you really start to feel restricted. Just follow the guidelines that your surgeon gives you and you will do great. Just remember Protein is key, it helps you to feel fuller longer. Good Luck!

What you are feeling is perfectly Normal just remember that the band is a tool. And we are all paranoid at first wondering if we are doing it right. Take it day by day and excersize and you will be fine.

No ! not during bandster hell, because you have no fill. It's like trying to blow up a tire that is 1/2 off the Rim. So your probably fine.

Just try to start learning better habits, and don't let your Head get the better of you. I know it's hard, very hard. But you have to try to hang in there. If you must eat something make sure its Low Cal, also High Protein helps.

Just a few ideas, hope this helps.

Shirley.

My surgeon didn't put me on a specific diet post-op, because he knew it would be very hard to control my appetite until we got my restriction level right. It's very difficult when you have the band, but it isn't helping! I finally got there at fill 3.

A slip is more likely from a band that is too tight. Often it is caused from extensive vomiting, but not always. Sometimes they cannot find the cause. A slip is actually where the stomach comes up through the band. Symptoms of a slip are pain and vomiting, inability to keep food down.

If your band is loose, then food is going right through and you are not feeling any satiety, thus getting no assistance from your band...THAT is Bandster Hell. We've all been there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
