Anissa 0 Posted February 26, 2012 Hello everyone, This is my first post so bare with me. I have a BMI of 36 with high Bp and triglycerides. I have been to see a number of surgeons and they all say the same thing I don't qualify and so they won't even submit to insurance. When I called my insurance they won't provide anything in writing but said I meet requirements, I called them back again and then they say I don't qualify. I would like my surgeon to submit to insurance on the off chance that I get approved or at least get it from insurance company in writing. Am I crazy in thinking this way? what has been your experience in dealing with surgeons and insurance.
Joyce Real 21 Posted February 26, 2012 My doctor said the qualifications are coming down and soon they will be taking people with lower BMI especially if they have other issues with their health. They need to submit and see!

honk 780 Posted February 26, 2012 Your insurance must have their requirements in writing. Go to google and type in the following: Name of Insurance AND "weight loss surgery" AND Requirements, if that does'nt work try Name of Insurance AND "weight loss surgery" AND BMI.
