Moved To Area And Need Doctor For Fills

Recommended Posts

I'm having a heck of a time finding a lapband doctor to do my fills. No one will call or email me back once they find out I was banded in NC. Does anyone know of any local doctors who will take patients who were banded somewhere else? I'm in the New Tampa area.

If you are in the Louisville Ky area definitely Dr. Shina with the Suburban Medical Center.

You should ask your surgeon in NC to help you find someone in your new area. A quick letter or phone call from the orignial surgeon and maybe the surgeons in your new area will be more willing to deal with you.

DiCicco is a fabulous doctor! I lived in New Tampa when he banded me in 2008. He has an office in Zeph and in Tampa.

I meant to add that he knows the problems that I've had finding a Dr to touch me in Tallahassee. I think he would be more understanding re your relocation.

He's one that wouldn't see me because he wasn't my surgeon. They're all so afraid of the liability they won't touch you! My pcp did refer me to Angela Cain, a new bariatric that just joined their group. She's seeing me next month. She's not a surgeon, but I hope she's up to par on fills. That will be wonderful!

I know exactly how you feel! I was banded in NE & had a heck of a time finding a Dr in the tampa area that would take me for less than $400 out of pocket! I decided it was cheaper to fly back to NE & pay $65.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
