Banded Nov 2010.....having Problems.

Recommended Posts

I was banded in Nov 2010 and although I have not lost nearly as much weight as I thought I would have by now I have been blessed by not having any real issues with it until this last week. I had my last fill in Janurary so I don't think the problem would be from it by I really don't know. Anyway, I have been having some serious issues this last week. I have been stuck a lot more, I have even been getting stuck on Water and cream Soup. I have been able to get very little down in the last 2 days. Also I been feeling very bloated and my stomach is hard. Oh, FYI, I'm still bathroom regular so i don't think constapation is the problem....lol.

Anyone else ever experience any or all of this.

hmmm ...... no, I have not experienced this ...... I think you should call your lapband doc's office and run it by them.

Banded FEB 2010. Had a fill in Jan of last year and was fine until this past Nov. Had reflux night coughing. Couldn't keep anything down I need an bit of an unfill. Some other issues too. I was better as soon as the doc took some out. waiting for a fill next week.

Go to your dr asap.

I have had the same issues a few times. I would see your dr right away or contact your clinic/nurse. It happens when I travel or have stress. I just ride it out with a liquid/puree until things calm down. You might be very swollen if you have been getting sick. I take a 1 a day probotic pill that helps with my digestion. This has made an improvement for me. Keep up posted. Hope things improve.

I have experienced my band suddenly tighter. A slight unfill did the trick. As said, it may be that your swollen but I wouldn't wait to long before seeing your doctor. You don't want to suffer unneccessarily and dehydration is an issue. Hope you feel better soon!

You may need a slight unfill, but even with regular BM's, you may still be constipated. This happens to my daughter quite frequently. She goes daily, but got very ill, bloated, stomach pain, vomitting and so on, so we took her to the doctor and they did an xray and saw a partial blockage. I guess this can happen sometimes, so I would check with your doc. Good luck!!!

Definitely sounds like you need a bit of an unfill. I had my surgery Oct 2010 and had my first issues this month also...and a slight unfill did the trick. Don't wait too long to contact your dr, no point in being uncomfortable if you dont need too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
