twi 40 Posted February 23, 2012 I used benifiber powder in my drinking Water. Be careful though. Some people including me end up having a day or two of going too much
#MagicWithinme 173 Posted February 23, 2012 It is a problem I've learned here. The Protein sticks to your innards and takes a while to make all the way down. And as my status says, sometimes its nothing but a big ball of gas although you feel like you have to go really bad. Many people take supplements to help stay regular. I myself will have a cup of applesauce. Just find something you are comfortable with and like twi said, take it slow to begin with, you don't want to trade one problem for another. Good luck! transforming jlaroux 78 Posted February 23, 2012 Hello! you may also want to talk to your doc about a stool softener. I've had to add this and Fiber to my diet. Remember, you're not eating as much Fiber now, so things are a little slower. If you're very concerned, always talk to your doctor and/or nutritionist! That's what they are there for! chrissylu 153 Posted February 23, 2012 I've added Miralax to my last few ounces of Water for the day. It hasn't upset my system. Things are still slower than they used to be, but the Miralax helps move things along. It seems that taking it at night helps the digestive system work better while the rest of your body is at rest. Iryshgreene 2 Posted February 23, 2012 Fiber! Try a fiber supplement and, as my nutritionist says, "get your plant food". I was rocking on my Protein requirements, but wasn't getting enough fruits and veggies in. She stopped that right off the bat. Told me I had to get both in, even if it meant lowering my protein and having to have a Protein Shake to make up for the missing protein as a snack. I can see how this might be a problem for many, though. For me, since I had my gallbladder out in 2007 I have had loose stool problems on a daily basis. Now that I have the band, that's all gone! Less food really has helped me get to normal.
shakey88 37 Posted February 23, 2012 My doctor suggested Miralax every other day...he said the colon does not become dependent on it!

That will cause your urine to be very strong and irritating and feel like that! High Protein content can affect your urine the same way I found....the smell will be very strong too. Miralax and Benefiber are very good and work well too - my doctors recommend both to me. Good luck and feel no shame with asking questions as that's what we're here for - each other! 54Shirley 105 Posted February 24, 2012 Ask your PCP about prescription Powder to help you go. I know they prescribed some for the Husband, and there were times I needed it, and it works, and yet no cramps, or any problems. If you have prescription Ins. This is the cheaper way to go, and it's good stuff. If interested let me know and I will post the name of the medicine.

chrissylu 153 Posted February 24, 2012 polyethylene glycol is the active ingredient in Miralax (Wal-mart also has a generic version). I don't know if its less expensive than Rx but with those you don't have to have a prescription. I don't know how the amount of the the active ingredient differs from a prescription. Could be more, could be less.
54Shirley 105 Posted February 24, 2012 Well this is prescription Strength, and it works. I would recommend this to anyone.
