Looking For Workout Sugestions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

I want to help out a friend of mine with exercise, I don't have a band, so am unsure of the limitations for exercise. I do P90X, but think that might be a bit too much for her to do with a band??

Not really sure, so I went and joined the gym with her, but I would like some advice on what type of workout routine to do, and how many times a week.

Thanks for any advice, I want to see her succeed with her weight loss goals. smile.png

As long as she is comfortable and has been cleared already by her Dr. to exercise, the band has no limitations to what types of exercise or workout routine she can do.

Anyone beginning a new routine should start off slow maybe 15-30 minutes of cardio i.e. treadmill, elliptical or walking outside, classes?

Then either free weights or machine weights for 30 minutes 2-3 days a week, then progress with both from there.

The key is to support her and be creative in the types of exercises and cardio so she doesn't get bored or give up. You two must encourage each other, there are going to be days when one of you won't want to go and that's where partnerships helps out!! Good Luck to both of you!

They can do any exercise with the band. I've heard P90X is really good.

I haven't had any problems with any forms of exercise I've tried, P90X included. All she can do is try but she will need to pace herself until she feels like she has enough strength to push herself further.

Instead of joining gym, which I would not have went to anyway, we got Xbox kinnect. I'm doing the bootcamp. I love it.

I started out simple and slow: take the stairs wherever and whenever they are available. Park at the bottom of the mall parking lot and do an extra lap. I hate the gym. Don't do the gym because I don't like driving somewhere in addition to the time it takes to exercise.

Simple exercises like pushups, crunches and walking will make a big difference and if your friend is anything like me, the privacy of your home is Appreciated when you are still self conscious about your body and fitness level. Just a thought

First six months, I did swimming only. Because I love swimming.

But then I was reading that exercising where you have to lift your body weight is very beneficial. (Walking is part of this.) So now I am doing treadmill and weights (at least 2x a week.) When I don't do weights, I go for 60 minutes on the treadmill.

The other thing I do is walk during my lunch hour. I put on my nano and go! It gets me away from my desk, phone and staff. I put on about 4000 steps on my pedometer.

What a GREAT FRIEND!!!!! I started out swimming. If the two of you are going together Water aerobics would be a good option. You can ask the instructor for options to make the moves at first easier and later on harder. Believe me you can get a fabulous cardio work out doing WA! For lap swimming you can get a Water proof MP3 player which makes time go by so much faster.

Walking is great exercise but if you are very overweight (like I was at 365) walking is very difficult. When with your friend (as mentioned earlier) choose a parking spot far away from the door. A calorie burned at the gym or walking into the mall is a calorie burned!

I really enjoy the elliptical machine. I have a bad knee but I was able to use that even at my heaviest.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
