LoisinStA 1 Posted February 24, 2012 I was banded in Mexico in April of 2008 and have lost a total of 75 pounds. I have not had a fill in a long time and I think I am at a good spot with the band...Sometimes I don't chew enough or eat something that I shouldn't and throw up but it is tolerable. My biggest problem is drinking after I eat...I get thirsty and there is just no where for the liquid to go so it comes back up. I had lost about 60 pounds and wasn't excercising...then I got a job at a retail store and within 6 weeks had lost an additional 15 pounds and my weight has stayed within 1 pound up or down for the past 11 months...I am walking about 1100 steps a day. I have no regrets about having the surgery..I am off of blood pressure medicine and my diabetes drugs have dropped my blood sugar to a very good range. I have loose skin primarily because of my age...I am 61 and my skin does not have the elasictitiy that it had when I was younger...oh well...not that big a deal. If I win the lottery I might consider surgery.. Just thought I would throw my two cents in...good luck all...and hang in there...it does get easier.
melisa_ann 0 Posted February 24, 2012 oh wow louis.....you and i are about the same. yes i too am at a good spot i believe with the band. And yes if i eat too fast or dont chew my food well enough i end up having to bring it back up. Ya i always try to drink a bunch before my meal so im not thirsty during and right after. Im hoping this last fill will help me get the rest of my weight off. I have about 40 to 50 left to goal. Ive been walking and eating better to though and i think its already doing the trick! yeahhh. I love my band!!
Short and Chunky 230 Posted February 24, 2012 Hey Lois in StA. Glad to hear someone else over 60 is out there. I am 60, lost 80- pounds and I have some sag too but that's OK with me. I was banded 7/7/11. I did not do this to become a swimsuit model. I did it to get healthier and to see my Grandchildren grow up. I walk about 3 miles per day and love my lband/plication. I would do it again in a minute. I too have reached a small plateu but I will work through this and move on. I kind of lost my "mojo" and drive over the holidays, then a bad cold, but I will find it again and thanks to the band, I did not fall too far off the wagon. Not much loss, but NO GAIN, so I am good with it. Blessed to live in Florida so I can walk year round..my goal is to loose 120 pounds so I have a ways to go...Good luck with your weight loss and glad to hear from you.
