Does it matter if all the paperwork goes to insurance at the same time?

Recommended Posts

I have been putting together all my info needed for insurance and have been keeping in contact with my insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office. I thought she was holding off on my letter of predetermination until all paperwork was turned in. Now, I rec'vd an e-mail from her saying that the L of PreD was sent on the 2/8 and my personal letter, psy eval, and dr records were being sent today 2/20. :angry

This makes me nervous b/c I don't trust that these documents will get to the proper place TOGETHER. What do you all think? Has anyone had this happen b4? Should I start calling NGS to let them know more info is on the way? I hope they won't just shoot back a "NO" b/c of lack of documentation. I've worked too hard on meeting every requirement and don't want this to be a kink in my chain.

Any feedback is GREATLY appreciated!!! :help:

Hey there! The surgeon I am seeing had his nurse send my insurance info certified or registered mail so the insurance company would have to sign for it when they got it. Just today I faxed my personal letter to my surgeon's office and the psych evaluation has not been sent to them yet either. I don't think it really matters if it's not all sent at the same time. You may wanna ask your doctor's nurse if they sent the info certified mail and if not then anything you send to your insurance be sure and certify it. This just keeps the ins. co. from saying they never received your info no matter how many different times you need to send something to them. I wish you the best in all this. I too am waiting for ins. approval and I too have been patient and have jumped through all their " hoops ". Just hand in there though. May God bless you in this.

Hi Mona~Thanks for the encouragement. I did call NGS and they have rec'vd my letter of PreD. I told her I was concerned about the other info making to the right place and she said she would make a note. Well, today she was kind enough to call me back to let me know she talked to that dept and they are watching for the rest of my paperwork. She also said she made a mistake yesterday when she said they have a 30 day turnaround time.....it's only 7-14 days...YEAH!! :clap2: I told her she made my day just by knowing that info and thanked her for taking time to call me. Wasn't that the most thoughtful thing? At this point, I'm really impressed with NGS American insurance. Most people would die b4 calling a member with that info.

Great idea on the certified or registered mail!! :clap2: That is really super advice. I have no idea how they sent it, but I will request that in the future.

Now for the waiting.....the worst part of this whole process. You hang in there too and let me know when you hear something!!! Thanks again!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
