I am sure that you have not done any damage but I am not sure that fried eggs are mushy. Mushy is stuff that is as the word says - mushy. Eggs can be hard to eat and frying them is not a good option. Apart from the unnecessary fat it also forms a skin that can be difficult to digest. You would be better off poaching your eggs and mashing them .

I would also not call any form of eggs mushies :) i have trouble with eggs whatever way they are cooked so i just dont eat them, to be honest i would check with your surgeon/nutritionist about what mushies entail ..

I've eaten scrambled eggs every day of my mushie phase. Well scrambled egg because I only eat one. It's on my list for mushies.

Geez, I wish everyone would not freak out about stretching their pouch! rolleyes.gif You are fine. That is what restriction is. If you ate too fast you would know it. I wish I could eat eggs, they seem to give me difficulty but I keep trying...

And I'm sorry rae; I hope that comment didn't come off as harsh or flippant. As you are new to this these are important things to think about. But I would think it would take a lot more than eating a couple of eggs to stretch a pouch. Deep breaths.....you are doing good!

i was so nervous about doing things wrong too. but once i got to soft food i LOVED scrambled eggs. i was more paranoid about throwing up and messing up my band, or that my port would flip. but guess what eventually eveyone "tests" their band and experience some unpleasant things. i think i didnt really test it till at least 4 months out, now i'm not saying do that, what i 'm saying is relax and just follow your doc's orders and you will be fine. this is a great place for support.

best wishes to you on your journey

jennifer

"Stretching the pouch" takes quite a bit of work from overeating and stuffing food down so that it overflows into the esophagus. It takes time for it to happen, and is diagnosed by an Upper GI. The stomach is quite elastic. A dilation is a long-term complication from overeating.

Fried eggs are more likely to cause you to get stuck as they can be difficult to chew. Runny---not so much. As you gain restriction from fills you might find that eggs become more difficult to eat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
