JAHouch 1 Posted February 20, 2012 Hi Everyone, I have my 1st appointment w/ the Dr. on Wednesday and I have no idea what to expect. I went to the seminar and will be paying for this on my own so insurance won't be an issue. Can anyone tell me what to expect during this first appointment? Thanks, Annie 1 Bremartus reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted February 20, 2012 HI Annie. I spoke with my surgeon just last week for my first appt. He went over the bypass and the lap band with me. He discussed what to expect and that it would be up to me on how successful I wanted my lap band to be. I also met with the financial officer and got assigned a fantastic case mgr who is helping me each step of the way. Just go and get the info and be yourself. You will do fine. Ready2BFit 33 Posted February 20, 2012 On last week I had my first appointment with my surgeon along with my 15 questions. Take the time and make sure all of your questions and concerns are answered. My surgeon even had an actually Lap-Band in the office so that I could see and feel what the band was all about. His entire staff answered all my questions and beyond about the procedure. Just be yourself and let them know what your concerns are about the procedure.
JAHouch 1 Posted February 20, 2012 Okay, thanks. I didn't know if I should expect to do blood work or any other medical tests on this first visit. I am nervous/excited/disappointed (in myself) all in one. It is a very strange feeling.

jennifer1 180 Posted February 21, 2012 i kept a notebook with me the 2 weeks before my initial consultation so that whenever a question popped in my head i wrote it down. i ended up with 50 QUESTIONS! LOL! I EVEN ASKED MY SURGEON IF HE WAS EVER PART OF A MALPRACTICE SUIT! LOL! so make sure you ask any and EVERYTHING, nothing is a stupid question. jennifer
