So Frustrated!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I don't post much on here but I read everything. I was banded June 28 of 2011. My starting weight was 262 and I know weigh 208. My frustration comes in here. I have not lost anything in almost 3 weeks. Nothing at all. I have fluxuated from 209 to 207. I am at a loss because I really don't feel like I need a fill. I have restriction I just can't lose. I don't know how to change it up at this point. I am really at a loss. I went back to my Protein Shakes thinking that would help me out. I am not a great exerciser and I know that will help. Other then that can someone help me try to kick it up again. Also my hubby thinks its because I am not getting enough calories. My dr. was not big on caloric intake just Protein. I am not able to get much over 600 to 700 calories a day. Please give me some pointers. Thank you

Maybe you really should try increasing your calories a bit? That doesn't seem like much food at all, but I also understand that a three week plateau isn't really that odd, especially since you've lost a lot already! Maybe you'd have more energy to exercise and be recharged if you went to 800-1000 calories per day? I don't think the Protein Shakes are that helpful unless they are low carb.

I'm like your Dr. I have never worried about calories, just Protein and Water.

Old school = Calories in versus calories burned!

Plus, palateaus are normal, and unexplainable. I have been stuck for months gaining and loosing the same 3-5 lbs. Then things begin to fall again, perhaps slowly but loosing just the same..

Increasing my food intake has never done anything for me except have me gain weight.

I think you need to exercise. I hate to exercise as well but I do know that will help you to get over your plateau. They also say that if you change around what you eat that helps too. It is horrible to not see the pounds come off when you are working so hard. Hang in there!

I would'nt feel like exercising if I was only on 600 cal a day either. Personally I think your intake is way to low. You need to be really careful with Protein intake otherwise your body will start eating heart muscle. Look up why anorexics and bulimics

have heart attacks. Am I being a bit of an alarmist, yes. But this is why the doctors stress eating Protein.

Could your band actually be too tight? Can you eat 3 oz of solid protein at lunch and dinner? And have veggies? If not you are too tight.

Plateaus are perfectly normal, it happens to most everyone. But going by the information in your post, I think you need to increase your calorie intake AND start exercising. 600 calories a day isn't enough. I would try bumping it up to 1000 calories a day. I think if you do that AND start exercising, it will help. If you can't get in more calories, then maybe you are a bit too tight and need a slight unfill.

I'm not sure what you're eating, but if you are having trouble getting calories in, maybe try adding in some foods that are easy to eat and high in Protein. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are pretty high in Protein.< /p>

Best of luck! Hope your plateau ends soons!

it does sound like u arent eating enough calories but i wouldnt increase them by 300 or so over night, try a week at an extra 100 calories a day made up of Protein and dont add any more carbs or fat or sugar for now.. A weight loss plateau is part of losing weight over a long period of time just stick with it and keep trying different things to kick start you again , i was on a plateau for a few weeks but got flu, so i wasnt exercising and did loads of housework like cleaning paintwork etc, lost 4lbs that week which kick started me again. I am a great believer in making changes as sometimes your body get very used to things if u do them over and over again. Just make sure any changes u make are small and u should see something happen. :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
