Hi - I went to True Results. I was banded on 2/1 so about 2 1/2 weeks out. I love the Gladiator shakes but they are expensive...$5.40 and I can hardly drink half so I try to save them for the next day. I was self pay and had a hernia repair also. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you...Good luck and I hope you get the date you want...so you can't have surgery on 2/23 because your hemoglobin is too low?

I went through true results in Houston and had my surgery on 2/15. Who is your surgeon?

I went to the location in Houston as well. My doctor is Dr. Hollis. I have been watching your posts...I'm glad to hear that you are doing well. I have been eating soft foods and it's going well; however, I had a protien shake today (the Gladiator from Smoothie King) and I guess I drank it too fast and thought I was going to die I felt so full. I walked on my treadmill and let out lots of burps and felt better. It's really hard to get used to what is enough and when to stop. I haven't lost anything in 3 days so I'm a little discouraged but hopefully I will soon...I'm doing all the right things, exercising, etc. so we will see. Let me know if you have any questions as I'm a little bit ahead of you...take care and enjoy your popsicles!

Being banded Mar 2 by Dr. Reilley, hope my liver has shrunk too. Have not weighed in 7 days will weigh in on pre-op appt 2/21. The office told me to lose 10lbs or he will postpone surgery, well guess I'll see on tues. The scale appeared to have not been my friend, but people on my job say they have noticed I lost and they wanted to weigh me but I refused. Good luck.

I am going through True Results and they are really frustrating me right now. My surgery was originally scheduled for 2/24 but got a call today and have to go get an upper endoscopy done with a GI doctor. I am not happy that they waited two days before to tell me I need another clearence. I'm beginning to wonder are they the best one's to go through, seems a disorganized.

I am surprised that they waited to tell you.... I had to have a cardiac clearence before they would even submit for insurance and then I needed to the pysch eval too. All again before they would even submit me for insurance. I was please with them and know several friends who used them also. Have you talked with your patient advocate?

I tried to call my advocate back but we missed each other. So I plan on calling her back tomorrow. I had to do a pulmonary clearence and they made sure to tell me ahead of time and I got that done. But to wait two days before my surgery to tell me I need to have a procedure done, not just a referral letter but a full procedure done with a specialist, does not sit very well with me. I am self-pay and I can easily pull out but of course I would have to start all over with another facility. I've been on the pre-op diet for two weeks no one bothered to look over my chart to see if I needed any thing else. I'm just really upset about the whole thing right now.

Hi Trenai - I just had to jump on the computer and respond to your post. I went to True Results and had the best surgeon and he has his own practice where he does bariatric surgeries but also does the lapbands for True Results. If I would have known about him I would have gone to him directly and skipped True Results completely. What they did to you was horrible...I haven't had any problems with them but I really like the personalized approach to having your own surgeon...it's a small office and the nurses are so wonderful (I had to go to his office for my post-op). Again, if I would have known that he had his own practice I would have completely skipped True Results. Sorry for your problems...this is going to be a long delay for you, unfortunately and tha really sucks but don't get discouraged...you are doing the right thing and it sounds like they are just being cautious. Take care and good luck!

Was your surgeon perhaps, Dr Hollis? Because I had a consult with him and he mentioned that we would be doing post op at his office. I thought I was under the impression that I had to go through True Results since I was self pay. I wish I would have done a little bit more research.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
