I'm 8 weeks post-op and 2 weeks post 1st fill and get stuck with food fairly regularly, especially in the mornings. Have been on liquid vitamins and fish oil since the surgery but would like to start taking capsules again.

I have read a few entries about this on this site and now I'm a bit confused.

Has anyone had any experience specifically with fish oil capsules? And what should I do if I get stuck? Does hot tea really help that quickly?

I'm scared - please help!!

No pills unless chewable, no capsules ever...just eat the Omega 3 fish!

I am able to swallow small tablets whole though - larger ones I break up.

That's why I'm confused - some people on this site say they can swallow capsules without any problems...

I have the one a day capsules from costco and seem to be able to swallow them whole. I certainly won't open them,

they're nasty tasting. If I ever have any fills, I guess I'll have to figure something else out.

I stopped taking all large pills that size. Especially after my last fill, I know I would get stuck. I can really only take something the size of a Vitamin D pill (really small ones). I got stuck the other day on regular Motrins. I feel like I need to start taking Calcium, so I'm going to get the chewables.< /p>

I'm at my sweet spot and can take any pills at any time! Sometimes my multi vitiamin sits there but doesn't take long to go down fine.

I use grown flax seed instead of fish oil calsules--the flax seed has 3 different omegas and a high concentration--mix it with something as the taste is not very good

My nutritionist told me about a product called Barleans. It's a liquid oil that comes in different flavors or plain. Sounds gross but I add it to my Protein Shake and I never know it's in there. You can google it and find where they sell it in your area.

I take pills with no problem. I just make sure to have a swallow or 2 of liquid first then drink the pill with more liquid. Capsules are easier than pills but even the pills go down fine for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
