mrlddst 0 Posted February 20, 2006 I'm so happy, Cigna approved my lapband surgery!!! Once the paperwork was actually recieved it only took a day (had a few problems with the doctors office). Just to cover it for anyone who might have questions like I did. I have Cigna PPO in Virginia. I submitted the psych letter, PCP and a nutrionist 6 mos of records from seeing them both each month, letters from my PCP and GYN. The only problem now is that my surgeon is booked solid through April, luckily I do have a cruise to enjoy at the beginning of May. I will wine and dine myself like crazy before hand. Mona 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Cogratulations! I don't have Cigna but I do have BCBS of TN and I too am waiting for approval. My gyn and PCP have both submitted letters of recommendation as well. The Gastric Band Institute that I am using sent the past 7 years worth of proof that I provided them--including regularly attending a workout program at my local YMCA. I had a sleep study done 2 weeks ago too and am waiting the results of it as well. Well, keep up posted on your progress and may God bless you in this journey. PhotoNut 7 Posted February 22, 2006 Great news! The time will fly by! But don't treat yourself like you're about to step into the twilight zone where you'll never be able to eat again. Quite the contrary! There's no need to eat everything you can before it's all taken away. *laughs* (I felt like that too) As one who stepped over to bandland in January, I can honestly tell you that it's not dark and bleak and foodless over here! Why not make today the first day of your journey. Get in shape for that surgery, and already be several pounds on your way to being healthy by the time you get your band? I'm so excited for you! *hugs*
Mona 0 Posted February 22, 2006 :welldone2: Thank you for the great advice and I definitely agree with that. I am well versed in good eating habits--I used to be a huge fitness nut:biggrin1: . When I stopped working out and eating right is when I started gaining alot of weight--then I got depressed and it just snow-balled. However, I haven't given up on that athletic body I had just 10 short years ago. Thanks a bunch for the encourement! May God bless you!
mrlddst 0 Posted February 23, 2006 I was the same way Mona. After I graduated from college, I dedicated my life to working out. I went from 220 to 170, however I had also been on phentermine as prescribed by my old(slave to the drug company) doctor. Low and behold, I had to have surgery (unrelated) and in recovery they could not get my heart down to a normal beat. It scared my so bad I was off for good...ballooned back up and past my first highest weight. Oh and PhotoNut..I hear you. I plan on getting back to the gym and getting a head start, but I AM going to treat myself on the cruise. It was preplanned, surgery or not. I will get it together though...just to make myself feel good :-D
Alexandra 55 Posted February 23, 2006 Congratulations, Lasonyadj!! Cigna is one of the more difficult carriers to wangle an approval from, but it sounds like you knew exactly what to do and managed beautifully. Way to go!! :bounce:
Mona 0 Posted February 23, 2006 I'm so excited for you and your cruise trip. And I don't blame ya for wantin' to live it up a little bit without restrictions. This could be a great ending to this chapter in your life. When you get the band, it will start a new one--ya know? I also agree with starting a more structured way of eating and excersing too (before the band). I know all about structure. I haven't had a problem with losing weight...I've done it off and on for 10 years now. It's keeping it off. I believe that the lap band is only a tool but one that will help me and many others finally realize their weight loss potential and keep it off. I'm rootin' for ya in all this too. Guess we all just gotta stick together on this thing. Well, may God bless you.

mikki21 1 Posted February 7, 2008 I just submitted my information to Cigna, I am really hopeful but to be honest I don't know how to feel. I have Cigna POS Open Access in TN, has anybody on here gotten an approval with that plan in TN?
