Losing Weight And Cellulite....

Recommended Posts

Wondering if there are those on here who were "blessed" {not} with cellulite on their thighs prior to surgery, if so, after losing weight, { I have to lose 75lbs in all} with exercise, has it diminished to some degree? I realize it can be due to many reasons, age, {I'm 57} hereditary, { my mother and her family} and a host of other things. A neighbor of mine who is 59 lost a good amount of weight within the last year on South Beach and she has been spinning and has said she has lost alot of cellulite due to spinning. Being that I'm just 3 weeks out from surgery, down 15lbs, and seeing inches melting away on me, my cellulite looks worse at this moment. I know, in the big scheme of things, losing the weight will be the best part, but just wondering.

Meredith, I am concerned with the same thing. I've seen people loose a lot of weight and loose a lot of cellulite too. But I've also seen some people not loose much cellulite. I think exercise,(not my fave) is key. I'm 46 and haven't even had the surgery yet. This is a big concern of mine as well as my chin and face sagging. Good luck to us! JEN

I have cellulite, especially on the front of my thighs (lovely). It should lessen as you lose weight, but also if you can build muscle in that area, that helps too. Unfortunately there is really no way to get rid of it completely. Try different exercises with weights for your legs. Lots of Water too!

Thanks,

It is lovely isn't it!....Exercise and water! Two great ways to help get rid of most of it, hopefully! What kind of Protein supplement do you like best??

Right now I'm drinking Premier Protein ready made shakes (get them at Costco). They are chocolate and taste pretty good! Also low sugar/carb & 30gms of Protein. I had a fill last week and I'm pretty tight, so I need liquids in the mornings.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
