I really feel for you and your situation I get it I've been there. I honestly think you should wait. I almost had my Tummy Tuck when I was 40 pounds heavier then I am now and I am soooo glad I waited ( I just had mine last Monday). I remember the doctor telling me that in most cases if there is a loss of 30 pounds or more you will have loose skin issues. An option would be to just have the apron skin removed, loose the rest of the weight then have the full tummy tuck but thats a lot of surgery and you need to look at the risks. I would advise you to invest in a pair of really good bike capris and prepare yourself for the surgery to come. You have done so well and I just know you will loose those last 80 pounds in no time! You will get there soon I promise. I hope I have helped a bit.

Sherry, no my insurance did not pay for mine my husbands company quit carrying that as an option. I can tell you that when they did they wanted evidence that you needed one meaning documentation.

#1 Start going to your doctor for every rash that you have.

#2 ask for prescription cream instead of just using an over the counter one insurance will be able to see the script.

#3 take photographs of any rash or irritated ares

#4 Ask your doctor for a recommendation of a Tummy Tuck the Dr. will need to write a small letter and will know what to do

#5 Make sure that you get a board certified plastic surgeon that deals with insurance they will also send a letter to your insurance

#6 get started now most insurance companies want 3 to 6 months worth of documentation.

You can call and ask your insurance if it's an option in your policy and what they need from you to get it approved. If they don't cover a full tummy tuck ask if they will cover the skin removal and you would just pay for the muscle tightening . If your insurance covers tummy tucks meeting certain conditions and they deny you, you can always appeal. FYI insurance company differ so make sure you check with them I could only answer with what my insurance wanted when the company had it as an option.

Good luck I hope I have helped some.

@vanillasky-the other day I noticed some sort of irritation, now I know I'm FAAAR off from considering any sort of plastic surgery, but would you suggest I start taking pictures now just to document?

Shues138, yes absoulutly start documenting now. A good idea would be to buy a spiral notebook or open a special file on your computer that you only use to document your rashes put the date down describe it, what u used to treat it, and how long it took to go away also document any lower back pain due to the hanging skin in the front amd what you do to ease the pain heating pads Tylenol ect. take photos of it as well and post it on your online journal. ;-)

Thank you! It may be a while until I need plastics but it's better late than never to start documenting.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
