XOXOXO 18 Posted February 11, 2012 Hi. My GP has referred me for a band & my appointment is on the 23rd Feb. I have high BP & a back injury aggravated by my weight & I can only walk for exercise. I have no self control with food & am putting on 5kg a year. Have done ALL the pills & programs which work until I come off them - them bam - worse off. My question is - is there anyone out there that has been in the same situation as me? Did the surgeon recommend the band? Were you rejected? What happened. I am hoping it will be all good. Any info helpful. Thanks.
AprilS 0 Posted February 12, 2012 I just got my band Thursday. My bmi is 32 . I have heart disease high blood pressure sleep apnea My cardiologist, primary care doc,and surgeon all thought i should get it. It was my idea to get it after watching a doc Oz on gastric banding for lower bmi.
XOXOXO 18 Posted February 12, 2012 Wow AprilS. How are you feeling? Did it take you long to decide if banding was right for you? Heart disease would be a major spur on I am guessing. It's what I want to avoid. What was your first appointment like with yr surgeon? X
#MagicWithinme 173 Posted February 12, 2012 I thought it depends on your co-morbidities you are having even if your BMI is low. 1 XOXOXO reacted to this
elcee 3,341 Posted February 12, 2012 My BMI was almost 32. My PCP was against me being banded as he said it was too dangerous so I went to the surgeon without a referral.I am so glad I did. Now almost 3 years out , at goal and maintaining and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.
XOXOXO 18 Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks elcee. I really hoped I would find a few like me. Well done. I hope to be just like you. I have a referral I am just worried about the surgeon saying no. Will find out in 10 days I suppose. I would love to hear more of your journey.
