Lap Band Removal (Fort Worth, Tx)

Recommended Posts

Good evening friends. In June 2007, I got the Lap Band with Dr. Rodriguez in Mexico. Due to my own foolishness, I did not have any success with it. Last year, I tried the controversial HCG diet then got hardcore into exercise and went from 350 lbs to 235 lbs.

Last summer, I began experiencing unbearable pain in the area by my band. I would have to lie down at times. It happened for about 2 weeks then subsided. The pain has returned. I am at the point now where I just want it gone. I will admit I have abused this thing by drinking soda, etc. Now I am just looking for someone locally to get it done.

Does anyone here know where I can get it done and approximately how much cash I will have to pay? Also, will a lot of insurance companies cover this procedure if it is "medically necessary"?

Thank you!

I would go to your primary care doctor, tell them exactly what happened and is going on now, and see if he can refer you to someone.

Once to you get an appointment with the surgeon, see if his office can help you find out what your insurance will and won't cover. Most doctors' offices are very good at that sort of thing.

Good luck to you.

I had mine done in Grapevine with Dr. Swanson and I would highly recommend him. He is absolutely fantastic and really cares about your success. I don't know all the specifics about the money etc., but I would definitely give his office a call!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
