What Does Your Doctor/nutritionist Recommend For Your Post Lap-Band Diet?

Recommended Posts

The only guidelines I have been given are 60 grams of Protein (of course) and stay under 25 carbs a day and not more than a cup of food at a meal. I'm interested in hearing if others are counting calories or fat grams or whatever different recommendations you have gotten from your doctor's office.

wow, they were really strict with you, 25 carbs!!

I usually try for 60 - 90 protein; under 40 fat; under 68(that's what they gave me!) carbs. I love fish and try to eat it often. of course I drink lots of Water and Decaf liquids(tea).

I try to exercise everyday, I have been trying to add to my routine and recently bought a resistance rope w/ dvd.

seems like we need to stay ahead of food and exercise to keep losing. my lose has slowed to 1 or 2 lbs. each week. I am happy with the inches I have lost, down 4 sizes!

love my band

Yeah, I am not thrilled with the low carb aspect of my doctor's plan, and that is one reason I'm researching what others are doing successfully. I'm not a carb-o-holic at all in that I can live without bread, Pasta and rice, and I don't even crave sweets, but the Atkins diet was by far my least successful past dieting experience, not to mention the side effects!

I was told 60-80 grams of Protein, never said anything on carbs or calories, but to stay on low fat, fat free and to only eat 1/2 a cup of food at each meal. I was also told to have 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day and to exercise, exercise and exercise.

I am on 800 to 1000 calories a day low fat high Protein, I was always doing restricted carbs because of my diabetes so i carried on eating around 35 a day ... i gave up all processed and white grain food .. dont miss it at all and it works for me ...I have 3 meals a day plenty of fish and chicken, non root veg and sugar free Jello 0% greek yoghurt and skimmed milk and exercise as much as i am able .. Even at my starting weight of 400lbs i only had diabetes and now that is cured :).. its been worth eating food that i need and not eating food i want ... good luck

I was only told about getting in the 60-70g of Protein daily and staying away from sugar. Nothing about calories or carbs. Though I was told to eat the protein first, then veggies, then starch if I'm able. I was told 4 meals a day and no snacks... and my full liquid diet, that includes cream Soups and yogurts... is to last 3-4 weeks before I start anything solid in pureed form. After that, to try and stick to four meals a day and no snacking in between, and each meal shouldn't equal more than 6oz or so total. And of course, 50-64 oz of Water through out the day.

I was only told about the Protein, about 60-80 g a day. Also, to eat every 3 hours, with small Snacks & one cup meals.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
