I Know I'm Being Silly, But...

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm six weeks post-op, and have only had one fill. I'm pleased to report I have lost 12 pounds. But that's about it. My weight had not budged from 206 since. Ok, I'm lying... it has gone UP, but not BELOW 206. I can see Onederland just waving at me now, but I can't seem to meet her face-to-face. I haven't felt a lot of restriction, so naturally I'm wondering what to do until I get to that. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Smacks upside the head? Anything, to calm me down?!

Post-op I lost weight. How could one not? Had my first fill 4 weeks after surgery. NOTHING!

Second fill was 4 weeks after that. In between I GAINED weight. I felt bad, Dr. laughed at me and said I'm not getting it.

Between 2nd and 3rd fill I felt some, came and went.

Third fill was the charm. Although it wasn't magic. With all that restriction comes a whole new way of learning how and what to eat.

Once I found my "Groove", I was sailing in the Green Zone ever since.

I lost at the first fill....then proceeded to gain weight after the second......until I gave my self a mental reset and slapped the fat kid back into place......it's hard....but the funny thing is with or without the band it all comes down to portion size and typres of food you eat.....no restriction can help if you're eating the wrong foods.....no need to kid ourselves.....the band is just an aide.....plain and simple....

This is well said! We still have to work to make the band work, unfortunately. So you have to follow the eating rules and tough it out.....this phase is often called "bandster hell" for a reason!

I like that, Bandster Hell! I know one day I will probably look back at myself and laugh, but until then... ack. Thanks everyone for reminding me, I really needed it 001_smile.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
