I would continue if at all possible. Like u I wanted it more than anything!

...and i agree so much. this is a health issue, nothing to feel that you are being selfish or anything like that. i would be having it done... to get this far. what happened again?? it must have been a bomb shell that hit you when you found out.

good luck to the people getting banded in the next few days and congratulations to those who have already been banded!

thanks... ive got 14 hours until im admitted now. boy, today has been emotionally up and down. ive had people in and out and thats helped me , kept me pre occupied. now the house is quiet again, its getting close to bedtime... and then im off.. my stomach has really played up with me this time... really bad nerves in the tummy. running to the loo like there was no tomorrow.. lol. But, i think im feeling a little more settled now... which is great. i want to have a good nights sleep. im not being banded until 3.30 tomorrow afternoon (thursday our time ) and i can have Breakfast before 7am... so up early to have some brekky...and 2 cups of coffee... lol.

im not taking much in my bag. just a nightie, dressing gown, toiletries and a book. not that i will get much chance to read. lol.

Anyway, this is me.... so cheerio for now... when you hear from me again i will be officially'' banded'' ..... way to go. The new door opens.

hi mizpk83... all the best of luck for you. i reckon you are excited and rearing to go.

i have to ask..... has anyone come home from being banded and had to inject themselves for five days with anti coagulant?/ i have to. i just thought i would mention this one.

Also.. boy, it will be just marvellous when i can reach my feet and paint my toes the way i love to. its been a real battle what with two artificial knees, and being over weight. something to really look forward to as the weight comes off.

Good luck judych!!!

hi... thanks so much... nearly there. lol. how are you doing??

it will all be over before you know it I brought my touchpad with me to the hospital too, thinking in the 2 hours I would be waiting I would use it. I really only looked at it right when I got there and was checked in, before I got taken back to the surgical floor. Are you inpatient or outpatient?

Hi ALL,

I am supposed to be banded on Friday, but this morning I got the can! Yup! Terminated just days before the procedure!!! I want to go through with the surgery since I have made it all the way up to now. My insurance will only cover me until 3/31 and then I have to apply for medi-cal until I can get real insurance for my kids and myself again. I am struggling with the decision. I WANT THIS!!! I want it so bad I can taste it, and it's right within my reach. Would I be selfish to continue as planned, or should I wait to get different insurance and run the gauntlet again? Asking opinions from ALL please.

No Negative Nelly's need respond.

Thanks for advice in advance.

I would follow through with it, you have come this far. Good luck in whatever you decide.

you will more that likely have time to read then :-) when I got home yesterday, I napped every couple hours but did my usual routine in between. Now I've got my alarm set for every 4 hrs for pain meds, so I stop in here every time I am awake. I had never had a real surgery before yesterday, only wisdom teeth removal, so I am surprised that the pain is not too severe, just a general soreness in my incision areas. Definitely worse than the aftermath of a hard ab workout, but still very manageable with the meds and conscious movement.

Lots of people getting banded this week!! Good Luck!

Today is Day 12 post-op and yesterday was the first day that I can say I was hungry! I don't know what was wrong with me but I wanted to eat everything. I really had to put a muzzle on it last night. :( Hope today is better. I go to my first post-op appt tomorrow. Will he do a fill only 2 wks out? Or will he wait until my 6 wk appt?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
