I'll have to try the Hy-Vee shakes! I'm going to Denver primarily bcuz it's WAAAY cheaper, and I was 1 phone call away from Mexico. I've heard only good things abt Dr. Weaver, and his promotional price is $8450!

Self pay?

I guess I am very lucky to have insurance that paid for it.

I'm a self pay too. My insurance won't pay for any part of any weight loss treatment. If I live to be 200 years old I will never understand that. They had no problem paying for my 4surgery knee surgeries including both a full and partial replacements and 5 hyalagan shots at $3520.00 APIECE!!!! Do the math.....those shots were more than Lapband surgery. Simply unbelievable, huh?

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Im sure it will be quite an adjustment but I know I can do it. My big fear is AFTER SURGERY. I grow more and more worried about vomiting and band slippage. I guess as long as I follow my directions I will be okay. Just a big worry for me right now.

I do have a question for anyone who has added pudding mix to their Protein shakes.......how much mix do you add? The entire package or just until it tastes good to you?

Day 6 of my pre-op diet, and omg do I miss my carbs! I guess I shouldn't complain much, cuz I've lost 4 lbs already, and I know many of u are required a liquid diet. March 1st is approaching quickly and thay's what' keeping me on track. I keep thinking, "If I don't shrink my liver, they may cut me open and decide not to do the surgery." After driving 9 hrs? Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
