Karla0306 16 Posted March 11, 2012 I was banded on March 6th. The best decision that I have made. Like many of you, I too could lose but always put the weight back on plus some. I have lost 8 lbs post surgery. I am so excited. You ladies still waiting for surgery are going to do awesome!!! 2 Iluvyogi and yvonne74 reacted to this
yvonne74 73 Posted March 11, 2012 I think we all chose this because we failed everything else and just look at all the successes u can read about on here! We can do this! I was banded on the first of March and have lost 15 lb already. What diet have we ever been able To do that with?? I am confident that we will succeed Congrats! Thats awesome! I think if I tried this 5 yrs ago, I would not have been ready. I am so ready for this now. I have to succeed with this. So far, my bp has been down and I am not to take it unless it gets over 130/90. So even losing what I have to this point has been a great success for my body. Now to get off the other meds so I can be healthy for my kids.
judych 225 Posted March 11, 2012 I'm doing 4 Protein Shakes a day, 1 vegetable serving, 1 fruit serving, and one starch serving...I get very hungry around dinner time...but i'm three days in and it's not too bad! o.k.. i wish i knew exactly why the difference between the requirements of my dr and yours. im not on any high Protein diet at all. in a way im glad not to be restricted but then again, you have a head start once you get through it all. i wouldnt expect to be losing any weight at all before surgery . Karla0306 16 Posted March 11, 2012 judych, you are going to do awesome. I am not sure how each physician makes their decision on what restrictions to put their patients on, it is quite interesting. I'm not sure when I will get my first fill, I really hope it is on my post op visit, but not sure
Karla0306 16 Posted March 11, 2012 Not losing is a very scary thought. We have to give up a lot of yummy food that we love because frankly our bodies won't tolerate them. I read someone's post that she was hoping to eat all her favs but just not a lot. That will mess you up. Got to make every thing count. Protein first blah blah u know I just don't want my hair falling out and other stuff. Make sure you take your Multivitamin. I take a chewable Multivitamin and Vitamin C pill along with my Iron pill. because I am anemic. Taking the multivitamin was a requirement from my surgeon

Karla0306 16 Posted March 11, 2012 I had 2 oz of broth. They told me to sip it out of medicine cups. It came back up within 30 mins. I haven't vomitted since but I've only been sipping Water . I hope Breakfast goes better. That is how I have to drink my liquids too. 30cc every 30 min. I think that is why I am finding it hard to get my Protein requirements in. I haven't vomited and thank the lord for that.
waitingpatiently 250 Posted March 11, 2012 I've looked for both of you on fb and can't seem to find you. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Ladies if you bring up your Facebook page, then go to the address bar highlight and copy the info, then paste that on the LB site (instead of your facebook name). Your friends can then just click on the link and it will take them straight to your page. Hope that helps. Tina
Karla0306 16 Posted March 11, 2012 Great news today! I got approved so I'm right on schedule. Day two of pre-op diet, liquids, not too bad. Surgery the 22nd of March. WooHoo!! You are going to do great. The first few days are rough especially if you have family that you have to cook for like I do. Stay strong it is worth it in the end. I haven't vomited and thank the lord for that. I wasn't told to measure anything just to make sure I was sipping all day. I need to make sure I do the Protein Shakes. I'm have a lot of gas pain tonight and thankful for those Gas-X strips!
Karla0306 16 Posted March 11, 2012 you will be o.k.. in fact you are doing really well even now. great to hear that hou are up and moving around. that should help move the gas quickly. Have you had surgery before?? do you have a history of vomiting with surgery?? why i ask you this is.... ive had so many ops over the years. over 20 of them, ive lost count. i have a problem with vomiting that is getting worse as i have each surgery now. the last surgery was two years ago. that was a minor one, i wasnt truly out to it that time. the time before it was a knee replacement and i was so sick afterwoods. this is really concerning me now. im going to have to talk with the anesthesiests next week about it all. they need to know my history. especially when its band surgery. i dont like the though of heaving my stomach out when its just had a band put around it. Keep us posted on how you go. i hope that your nausea has gone by the time you read this. I also have problems with vomiting after anesthetics. My surgeon prescribed the patch to place behind my ear 24 hours prior to surgery and then prescribed a new nausea medication to take the day of surgery. I believe the medication was called Namend or Amend, can't remember but I had no problems with vomiting or nausea after surgery. I had an allergic reaction to morphine, hives all over and diffculty coming out of the anesthetic so my surgeon kep me over night for observation since I live an hour away from where I had surgery. I would talk with your surgeon about the medications mentioned.
