Hi Karla I've had the same issues with shoulder tip pain. They blow your stomach up with gas so they can see better in your tummy for surgery. And this escapes upward through your body until all has escaped. I thought would've been done in couple of days but I tell you I'm only just feeling no pain 9 days later. Ouchy and it came And went all the time I was thinking I'd hurt or strained my shoulder somehow as does hurt sometimes. But I'm pretty sure was that blasted gas.

I got my surgery time for tomorrow. It's at 7 am. I live 2 hours away from the hospital which means i will have to leave at 3 am to be there for 5 am...... Yikes...I'm a little nervous cause I pigged out on taco bell yesterday and the scale went up 5 pounds. I'm supposed to be on 2 weeks of liquids. I'm afraid they will be able to tell. I think I'm more nervous about that than the actual surgery at this point.

Don't worry my money still hadn't come through by 2 days before so figure would be canxelled for the second time so I thought might as well have dinner. Had chicken roast vege gravy. The point of the diet is to ewduce fat an Floyd from the liver so that would have already happened from your 2 weeks pre op diet. Good luck.

As I stated before' date=' I was banded on march 13th. The night before I went to a support group and everyone in there was gastric and bashing the band.....awful way to go into surgery but I want to prove them wrong! My question, when will the pressure I feel near my diaphragm and chest bone go away?[/quote']

I can't answer your diaphram question but I sympathize with your support group story. Aweful! Who are they to judge? The so called moderator at mine is against the band. He said bansters were not serious about losing weight. WTF? Anyway, I've been using this wonderful site for support and am going to try a different support group.

Ladies

The moderator in that group bashing bands needs to be reported. There should never be bashing or anything negative about any members procedure in a support group at all. I suggest you do two things. 1. Report the behavior to the sponsor of the group and 2. FIND ANOTHER GROUP.

I have ph consult with my dietician. He told me 7-9 days could start having yoghurt and some purees. So I did that about day five as was getting hungry he had told me this meant the aweeling had gone down also looked at nxt phase which was more of the same so I had a few different things. Well we had our nxt session and he's oh no you shouldn't have done that but I try stuff and see how it sits then go from there. He has really stressed me out I did what he said then he's saying the opposite and that wen he head people like me eating things they shouldn't. So I'm omg have I damaged something. I've had no inclination to vomit. And he also 1/2 cup measures only. I didn't do that either. So now I'm thinking what if I stretched the pouch. Oh god this can be hard. I mean it's not like u can have a huge amount. I don't know. Oh I had some baby food also thinking well mashed pureed good portion size he didn't like that either grr

Alerker- I'm stealing a quote from someone I've been repeating to myself. Sorry I can't remember who said it.

You're not defeated if you fall down, you're only defeated if you don't get up.

Just pick yourself up and try again!

Dont bash yourself but get back focused and on track, your body needs to heal. We all make mistakes, I felt weak until I started mushies today if that helps. I need my strength start work Sunday. It will get better.

Have you ever made Jello shots? Without being at home with my recipe book I can tell you that you replace liquid with Isopure or another Protein Drink that is not a shake (gross!). I am pretty sure the recipe book also shows a way to make it with powder. I'll find it when I get home.

it would be good if you find the recipe and post it.. thanks.

it must have been rather difficult to sit there through all that negative. They are wrong putting the band down like that. i asked my specialist about the gastric sleeve and he explained to me that the mortality rates with the surgery are way higher, that things can go wrong with the sleeve and if it does then it cant be reversed. at least with the band drs can remove it if they really have to. i know that the incidence of gastric reflux is greater with gastric sleeve, especially after a couple of years. and, whats more, what happens if the sleeve itself is stretched over time?? nothing that can be done with that either. also, its a relatively new surgical procedure and the long term results arent known. So, just adding up here the few things ive mentioned, i think that we are all doing the best thing. my dr wouldnt do the sleeve. i know there are some places where you can have the sleeve done, but my opinion is that you would need to be extremely obese before its justified. it is a risky procedure.

Best wishes March bandsters! I cleared my last hurdle yesterday and I will be banded in Atlantis FL 3/21/12. Mostly excited now although still a little scared. My good friend will take off work to accompany me and stay in motel. She will be positive and distract me from worry. I thought I was going by myself. I am grateful. My big concern is my BP always goes way up with anxiety and pain. My blood sugar is not stable or controled now with meds. Too many highs with pain and stress and crashes sometimes when I don't eat. 4 yrs ago I was in acute kidney failure from dehydration from stomach ulcers(I didn't drink anything and my meds damaged kidneys). I have a shunt still in my abdomen from pseudo tumor cerebri which increases my health risk for infection that could spread to my brain. The roller coaster of managing obesity related health issues and meds is the scary part of this for me. For those of you who are younger and healthier CONGRATULATIONS for caring about yourself and your health and doing this before its too late.

Here's the deal. I pray for us all and please join me in prayers.

im praying for you.... i hope it goes really well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
