loutenia 2 Posted February 9, 2012 I am really enjoying this site. I have attended a seminar and just waiting for a phone call, so excited to get going. I feel concern that I might get turned down because of my age.....73. Wish I had done this years ago. Medicare will cover lap banding I know but I would love to hear from others in this age category. honk 780 Posted February 9, 2012 Well I am not in the age group but as my mother had one hip replacement around your age and a second hip done when she was 78; this surgery is a piece of cake compared to those! If you lost some weight do you think you would have an easier time exercising? At my heaviest I started swimming to try loosing weight because I had horrible knee pain. If I can go to the gym and swim in front of the high school swim team in my fat lady swim dress anyone can! Swimming and or Water aerobics are great for overweight people because you dont have all that pressure on your joints. I highly recommend a water proof MP3 player (look on Amazon).
