fat2skinnychic 0 Posted February 9, 2012 Hi all! I am on my 3rd day of full liquid diet, taking in approximately 600 calories a day. I don't really have the energy to exercise, but was wondering if any surgeons encouraged or discouraged exercise during this phase?
B-52 7,113 Posted February 9, 2012 I was told to get up and do as much walking as I could tolerate. Aside from that, I had to wait till the Dr cleared me, which was 1 week later,in my case.
Jess55 97 Posted February 9, 2012 You talking pre op? I had a week pre op liquid diet and I did not work out that whole week. At the calorie intake I was taking in I didn't think I would be able to make it through. I restarted at the gym like 2 weeks post op, when I was on mushies. Still my caloric intake was pretty low, but I was ok.

Queen Bea 11 Posted February 9, 2012 My nutritionist told me to get started now on working out. He said gradually build up the workout routine. If walking is all I can tolerate do that but add to it each day. He said this will help with post op recovery and post op work outs. It won't he such a shock to my body. If its hard to workout for you start off by stretching maybe a few yoga moves then add resistance. Good luck.
honk 780 Posted February 9, 2012 Preop I had already been doing an hour of strenuous cardio a day for over a year. My doctor put me on a 500 calorie a day liquid diet; that he planned on me doing for several MONTHS. When I asked how that would affect my work outs he gave me this look "Why would it?" Anyway I did that stupid diet for 5 days and then stopped because I believe I was allergic to the drinks (tingleing in back of throat). I went back to my 2 Protein Drinks with one low cal Protein based meal. So yes he did expect me to continue my workouts on 500 cals a day. 1 Queen Bea reacted to this
