Recommended Posts

So i just made my appointment for my TT for this coming Wednesday the 15th...... and boy has the anxiety hit.

I have been wanting and anticipating this surgery for the past two year and now that i'm a week away... i feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest.

I need advice and reassuring..... Please.... from people who has had the TT and felt like this right before....

thanks.

My TT was 3 months ago. I did feel the same way, I almost cancelled. I am so glad I did not.It is a slow recovery, but so worth it. I love the results. Not having that extra skin hanging has motivated me to get back in the gym. I have lost 15 pounds since the surgery. I am happy to answer any questions you have. Make me heal.com has a wonderful support group for TT. It is just like this one but tons of people who had the TT. I found it very useful after the surgery. before surgery it could make you a little nervous.

Thanks you guys...... I really think most of the anxiety is coming from the fear of losing my job in the process. two years ago when i had my LB, on the day i went back i was laid off from the job i had for 10 years.... I was devastated. I know i would have lost it any way, but it's still in the back of my mind.

Not only do i have my "regular" job here, but i also do the cleaning and the extra money i make doing that is going to pay for the TT. If i lose my reg job, i then lose the extra job ....meaning I'm ... screwed.....

But, I have to put this in Gods hands and let things happen the way they are going to happen. and i will go check out that site Beach... thanks for the info.

I am 4 days post op from having my Tummy Tuck with a switch to a low profile port and a week prior I felt the same way you do. I have got to tell you this is one of the best decisions I have ever made! There is a website called tuckthattummy and there is a lot of information on there to help you get ready for surgery and what to do after surgery. Have your spouse or person who is taking care of you read it too so they know what to expect. I am so excited for you and please feel free to ask me any questions. As far as the anxiety of loosing your job possibly goes you cannot worry about something that has not happened yet you will only make yourself feel worse. Do what you said and give that to God I will say a prayer for you now teeth_smile.gif

you all have been so encouraging...... it really means alot. How long ago did you all get your band, what was your weight lose, and sizes....As you all know i started a 223, 5'2" size 18-20. Now i'm at 145 and a size 8 fit very comfortable, but size 6 fits. Hoping to be a size 4 by the end of all this. but mostly it's about losing this apron and the rashes and soreness from the rubbing when i walk or exercise....

So Laura...Monday is your big day...

Wow... 4 days out. How was the pain? How long are you going to be out of work? My doctor does not use drain tubes, so i'm hoping to be back on my 12 day. surgery on the 15th and back to work on the 27th.

Did you stay overnight? Who changed the port? I would love to see pic if you feel comfortable showing one day.

Thanks for the prayers......

I got my band 2 1/2 years ago I am 5ft 7in and I weighed in at 328 pounds I was a size 26/28 and growing. I am now 129 pounds and wear a size 4 and possibly a 2 now that I had the Tummy Tuck. For me is was about the apron and rashes too but I also wanted the outside to reflect what the inside was like.

The pain is completely controlled by pain medication and gets better everyday just make sure you stay ahead of the pain by setting an alarm clock that goes off when your next does is due.

I do not work but I can see how people who do would want to take 2 weeks off but 12 days is pretty close would you be able to work maybe just a half day for 2 days to ease back into it? You won't be in pain but you will be tired.

I came home the same day and I'm so glad I did I have a hard time getting rest in hospitals. My Lap Band surgeon was the one who changed my port, he teamed up with my plastic surgeon to do it. I highly recommend switching to a low profile port I can't even see mine now. I would be happy to post some pics this weekend and it's a good idea that you take a bunch of before pictures and your measurements you will want them later.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
