Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I am so disappointed, I just learned today my insurance does not cover any WLS. I don't understand why companies can choose if you need a surgery or not. I don't know what I'm going to do now. I am so damn frustrated now; I don't want to go outside the states just to have WLS; its not fair.

Any advice out there???? I am located here in Georgia do anyone know what the cost for the lap band. If there's any self-payers out here I would love to hear your advice and the options for self-paying individuals.

My insurance did not cover it either... It is my understanding that every insurance company covers it, it is just a matter of whether or not your employer chose to have it as part of your coverage. My CEO told me that we were not even given the option of choosing it as part of our coverage, I am sure it has to do w/the size of our group and coverage limits. I am almost 3 yrs out, and I was fortunate that I had enough money in my 401K that I was able to take a hardship withdrawal for medical purposes in order to pay for my surgery. I don't regret taking the money for a minute, it was an investment in my life. I can rebuild my 401K but my life is not replaceable. Good luck!!

i research the band for 5 years and during that time i had 2 different employers and both had insurance policies that excluded any WLS. i decided that if i can spend money on a luxury car and other things i like, then my health was also worth the investment. i took out a low interest credit card thru my credit union. i live in illinois and my surgery was out patient and the cost was $12,500, which includes my first year of fills. that is one bill i have no issue paying when it comes. so worth every penny!

I am a self payer. I found out that the surgery and one year follow up was 14500, here in Arkansas. I saved half and financed the other half. If you are self pay you do not have to go through any of the other stuff insurance requires you to do. Basically you go to a seminar, sign up for an appointment. See the surgeon, Pay for it and get it done. It took maybe two weeks. I know it is hard to come up with the money, but when there is no option that insurance will pay, then you take matters into your own hands.

I was very fortunate to have Tricare and was approved on the first attempt with my letter however,I do know that there are many that have to self pay. It is the best thing that i have ever done for my self. It is worth every sacrifice that you will have to make if you are mentally prepared to do it for you........

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
