Is anyone else going through severe pain after getting filled?

Recommended Posts

Hi I am a new kid on the block had my banding just six weeks ago and started having trouble with pain in the left shoulder right from the start. Spoke to my specialist re this problem & was told it was due to interference with the diaframg & would probably settle down within six weeks. |Well time ups & the pain is increasing each day. Today I have had 4 Panadeine Forte, one Endone & am waling around with a Tense Machine on & just getting by. I go in for an adjustment to the band this Friday (first one) any suggestions as to what could be happening. Thanks

Jan,

I don't understand why you're having adjustments if you're still having pain that is "increasing each day". If your diaphragm is irritated or if you're still having some residual gas pain that has (for some reason) settled in your shoulder, you need to heal and get yourself to a point where you're comfortable and in a good bandster pattern before you start in with the fills that start more irritation.

I would definately talk to my doctor first and get this pain diagnosed and treated before I started into adjustments.

Hi Jan P! (( HUGS!! ))

Your post is in the middle of a different thread. Folks aren't really ignoring you, they probably just missed it. :)

Welcome to LBT! About your gas pain: when they do the surgery, they pump your body cavity full of carbon dioxide to get more room to see stuff. It's a really cool procedure, but it results in all this extra CO2 that can't get out except through osmosis. So basically you have to wait for your body to absorb it....

Your diaphragm REALLY doesn't like it, but it doesn't have any nerves, so it refers it's pain, typically to the left shoulder, though some have the pain elsewhere.

The best way to combat it (or so they say) is to walk, take Gas-X & keep the GI track moving (i.e. burp & pass gas as much as possible).

The fact that yours hasn't passed in 6 weeks is really disturbing. And if it's getting worse, that's just not good!

I would definitely tell your doctor what's up & get him to do an Upper GI or whatever he advises. We do have a foreign body inside us now... some of us don't tolerate it as well as others.

Keep us updated!!

raazzberry -- Are you doing any better? Any test results? (( HUGS!! ))

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
