Just Back From Dr. Appointmet

Recommended Posts

Just got back from my appointment, first time in 3 months. Since my last visit, I lost 5 Lbs.! WooHoo!!

He was very impressed with the the way I look and how my progress is going over the last 12 months.

After one year, I am less than 10lbs from my goal. (chk my before/after in profile) so weight loss slows way down.

Fat is not as prevalent as before.

If you go by BMI's alone, I need to loose another 30 lbs. That's BS I said, he laughed and agreed.

BMI's are only good to a point, then you have to start looking at body type and Body Fat %.

He asked all the usual questions, how's your portion size, hunger between meals, etc, etc.

I really didn't feel like I needed a fill, based upon his questions/criteria, but he gave me 1/2 cc fill just to see what happens.

Congrats to you B-52! I just got back from my visit too. My last fill was in Sept and I was so happy to get another one today. She gave me .4. I hope this one is the charm! Good luck with yours!

Thanks, we seem to be in the same boat. I'm hoping this small fill will gt me at and prerhaps my goal. Then maybe I will not need another fill for a long time, if ever.

I really am happy where I'm at right now, being comfortably in that "Green Zone" day after day, but why not go a little further.

I am a year out now and still waiting for that green zone. This was my 8th fill I think. I should have close to 7 in my 10 cc band now. Isn't it crazy for you to think that you only have 10 pounds to lose??? I have 12 and it was unimaginable to even think that a little more than a year ago!

best wishes to both of you girls. I can say that it took work to get to where I am at. I'm not perfect but good 90% of the time. What has really kept me on track is writing everything down that I eat. I also measure and weigh everything unless it is prepackaged. Some people don't need to do that, but I get hungry often and know that I CAN eat more than I really need but I don't. I'm hoping this fill does it for me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
