Yes, stress can couse your band to feel tighter and then you might not be able to eat much. If you are also slimming or vomitting, then that will cause you to swell and might cause you, also, to not be able to eat much. Take care, Karen

Sorry that you have been experiencing this problem. Hope things get better for you. This is a very interesting topic, not banded yet but this is good too know. I experience stress daily in my home and on my job. I feel like I just can't get a break from stress. Am i gonna have these problems also once banded? Should I be worried?

I've never really stopped to think about stress affecting my band, but now that I think back it probably does have alot to do with how it feels. I was banded 13 months ago also and experience times where I can't eat hardly anything to times where it almost feels like I have no restriction. I think it is the body's reaction to the stress. Don't worry, just take things one day at a time!

Yes stress effects your band! So does your Tom and weather, but you get used to it and realize it is just part of the new life you have chosen for yourself.

O yes ! Stress, Anger, being upset, for some women your period can cause it to tighten, and believe it or not so can the weather for some.

You all have heard someone say "A STORM IS COMING IN I CAN FEEL IT !" The same thing can happen with the band. It can tighten rite up for no reason, then you'ss see the weather change.

After I got my band, it was that way for about 6 months.

Yesterday, i put on the question about stress causing the band to tighten. Thanks for your answers. Today i have been to the doctors and had my 2 mirena coils removed as i am possitive they was part of the cause. Last August this all started. My coil wasnt working properly and was going to remove and put another in. But he couldnt get first one out so put the other in. Been uncomfortable since. It wasnt until i asked today the date i had it, that i realized that was probable the cause. I had no problems in my first 6 months so why would things change. Did anyone else have a problem with the mirena coil.

I have given up on what causes the band to get tighter and looser. I have heard every reason under the sun.

Temperature, barometric pressure, stress, PMS, illness, etc, etc.

I will say it happens to me. ALWAYS tighter first thing in the morning.

Only thing I have proven to my self is the more I exercise it by eating, it gets looser. If I give it a rest by not eating solids for a while, it tightens right back up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
