Yesterday I had a slip up and did some emotional eating. Unfortunately, one I started, I couldn't stop. How do you guys deal with the aftermath of a bad diet day? Do you even have bad diet days?

I really don't want to dwell on my horrible day yesterday, but I do want to move on and recover from my "oopsy" in a positive way...

Any who claims they never slip up is lying. We're human, we make mistakes and give into temptation.

I was just banded on 1/6 and as of yet haven't had a 'bad diet day', but it'll happen eventually. It's inevitable. unsure.png

I say chalk it up to a bad day and start over fresh the next. Just don't make the mistake of one bad diet day turning two, three, a week, a month, etc. Too often we get discouraged after a minor slip up and give up.

Stick with it smile.png

Untill you are comfortably in that Grenn Zone, everything you do is on your effort. And if you're anything like me, I cannot do it on my own. That's why I needed WLS.

So what else can some expect?

remember this is not a diet it's a lifestyle change. There are gonna be times when you eat a little more than normal or eat something that is bad for you.

We all do it/ have done it. Like the others said today is a new day.

Well actually it's superbowl Sunday so tomorrow is a new day for me especially since we are having a houseful of people and all kinds of temptations. I don't struggle so much with eating too much but on a day like today more like just eating the wrong stuff.

One thing I suggest is when you do "cheat" make sure that you add that to you food journal (anything that goes into your mouth) that will help you be more accountable!!

Please, don't be so hard on yourself! Everyone has good days and bad days. I actually call my bad days, my vacation days. They usually happen when I am on vacation, but it means I go from around 1000 calories per day up to 1600 calories per day (yes, those 2 glasses of wine at dinner do add the calories!). The only thing that happens, is my weight plateaus. The good thing about the band, is it is easy to go back to eating like I need to, to lose weight. So keep track of your calories and realize that there are going to be days where things just don't go as planned. The key is not to let those bad days, become bad weeks or bad months.

First thing you have to do is change your mindset. For me and many others this is not a diet. A diet it something you do temporarily. This must be a lifestyle change. Second you ate to much (I won't say you ate bad things because my opinion is to make it a lifestyle there are no foods I will not eat I just moderate it and fit it into my caloric goal). Move past, today is a new day. Also don't say well I screwed up mine as well finish out the rest of the day bad, eat right at the next meal and one day going over your calories IS NOT going to undo your hard work.

Thanks so much guys!

I actually don't view being banded as a 'diet'-- I used the word diet in a daily dietary sense. In the past, I would punish myself with a really grueling work out or even go a day without eating. I'm attempting to change that habit and not use food or exercise as a reward or punishment.

Every day is progress!

Thanks again for the advice/support--today is a fresh new day and a fresh new week!

I slip up a few times a month. I hate myself for it. The scale also pays me back. I had gotten into onederland and slipped with pepperoni (one of my trigger foods that in no longer welcome in my house) and am now sitting at 200 again. I am mad at myself. I try to learn a lesson from it. It's hard though b/c we are human and aren't perfect.

Most of us slip up...it's what you do afterwards that counts. You can continue with the 'bad' behavior, or you can start new ones...it's completely in your hands.

I say take it as a lesson learned and move on :)

We will all slip up every now and then but the key is not to continue it into the next day. Forgive yourself and maybe do an extra 30 minutes of cardio.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
