I am so down. I weighed myself on my friend's scale at home and according to it, I have gained 4 lbs! I was doing so great and yes I did stop going to the gym because I am going through menopause and I had a really bad period that lasted 2 weeks. Now I am very down. I can't say depressed because that would be too "drama Queenish" for me. But yeah, down is the word. I am trying but need a good kick in the butt. Any good suggestions? Oh I was banded on Nov 4th 2011 and lost 40, now gained 4. UGH!

Hello, I'm glad you recognize you can be doing more to see better results. However, I'm curious... Do you normally weigh yourself with your friends scale? My doctor's scale and my scale at home have a 2lb difference.

I always weigh first thing after I pee in the morning. My scale and my doctors scale is exactly 2lbs different. I would stick to the same scales and weigh only before you have eaten or drank anything. There are days where I have gotten on the scale thinking how in the world did I gain 4lbs today? Then I remember that I ate dinner and then worked out and drank a couple bottles of Water. The next morning I'm back to normal and hopefully a little lighter. Good luck on your journey!!

Didn't you just say you had a bad period, couldn't it be a bad bloat? Plus different scales? Don't get too broken up about it just keep on keepin on!! We all have bad days and you get there!!

I am 7 months out and 95 pounds down - and i weigh daily without fail on my bathroom scale after using restroom (and naked) first thing in morning before getting in shower. My weight can fluctuate within about 3-4 pounds overnight - in other words there have been major short-term swings over the months. Sometimes this is due to me having more calories the day before, bloating before/after/during ovulation/period, amount of salt/water retained in my system, alcohol night before (like I'm dehydrated the next morning - my weight is falsely super down by a few pounds - but it's all regained the next day from hydrating). Take heart - I do not know many people who go down on the scale every single day - there are going to be fluctuations - (and different scales always produce different results). Just stick to what you are doing and you will get to goal!!!!bowwow.gif

This is a journey of a thousand miles. Don't let a hiccup throw you off course. Stay with your bandster eating rules. Get back to the gym when you can. Over the course of the long run, the losses will come. A 4 pound gain, I mean a TRUE gain would mean that consumed an excess of 14,000 calories. Do you really think that happened in the time since you were last on a scale? I sort of doubt it.

Menopause sucks, doesn't it? Get back on the horse. You'll be OK.

Did I put enough cliches in there? :)

Thank you all for such kind words! I must admit that I did weigh myself on a scale I had never been on plus it was late that night. I usually only weigh on the scale on Monday mornings at the gym or every 2 weeks at the doctor's office. I go in Thursday for my 3rd fill. Never minded needles before but now I am getting tired of them! Love my mom to death but that 73 yr old, 5'4", size 4-6, old lady challenged me to a 3 mile sprint in July knowing full well I am competitive! I got a feeling I am going to need you all for some butt kicking til then!!!! Thank deeply.

Also, never weigh yourself at night! You are guarenteed to be bloated.

I always weigh 2-4 more pounds heavier at night than I do in the morning. It makes sense when you think about it. At night your full of salt, Water and food!

Thanks to everyone who answered and gave me the incentive to get up and keep going. Today I went for fill #3 and the scale said I lost 3 lbs! I was so dreading this weigh-in! Thanks again and back on track...

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
