Sometimes I Feel My Success Story Wont Ever Happen.

Recommended Posts

I was banded in June of 08, started at 315, and am down to 245. I am still about 100 pounds overweight. I feel I am eating okaywhat im supposed to, and I dont lose any weight, ive been maintaining for about 2 years now. I feel like giving up, like my success story will never make it up here. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the 70 pounds! You feel or you know you are eating what you are supposed to? Maybe you should keep a food journal for a couple of weeks tracking your Protein and calories and see a nutritionist. have you been back to see your doctor?

I havnt seen him due to insurance purposes unfortunately, I read a post earlier about a 5 day pouch test I might try. I think i have just lost myself in this whole process, and got so off track that I feel overwhelmed. Maybe I should try my local lap band support though my doctor so I can talk to my nutritionist without making a formal appointment. I just wanna be healthy, and live longer for my kids. I mean, is this SUPPOSED to be THIS frustrating? I see people lost 100 pounds in a year with the band....and that definitely is not the case with me :(

I know that after a while it's easy to lose focus on doing what you need to do to keep losing. I know I have forgotten a lot of it. But it's not impossible to get that focus again. I am trying to as well. Just because recently I don't feel as healthy or fit as I used to be, because I'm working longer hours and not eating as well as I should.

So refocus and start again. You lost 70lbs so you know you can lose. Get back in the zone. You can do it.

My friend is doing the 5 day pouch test right now. She is on day 4 and down 5 pounds. Another friend did it and lost 9. Good luck!

I don't seem to be able to get the mind back in the right place either. My DH recently found out that the he is diabetic. I now spend so much time worring over what goes in his mouth, I never know what's going in mine. I haven't made it to my goal of 170 and am very upset by it. Now I find the scale sliding up just a little. I don't want the foods I had in the begining like chicken or tuna salad or a Protein Drink doesn't get made. I get the Water in but I know something really needs to change.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
