How Did You Reward Yourself?

Recommended Posts

I'm a believer in rewards. I am close to meeting my first goal of 50 pounds lost (only 5 pounds away!) so I'm starting to think of something I can do to reward myself. So I was curious what you guys have done once you have met a specific goal. Buy yourself a new outfit, electronic? Eat something yummy? I've been thinking of a slice of pizza but not sure how good of an idea that is lol. Also, what were your goals? I know mine are (at the moment) 50 pounds lost, under 200 pounds, 100 pounds lost, then goal weight! Although exciting, this is also very difficult, and we should always remember to reward ourselves!

Don't do the PIZZA!

Not a good idea to use food as a Reward..

That has been the one habit I struggle to break.. Oh I ate good today so I can have just one cookie - or whew rough day a bowl of icecream would be great.

How about a nice spa visit - pedicure would be a great way to enjoy the new you.

New purse or shoes are always nice too.

Congrats on reaching your goals... Celebrate the "New" You!

Oh I would never think to reward myself with food on a daily basis! I have been extremely, extremely strict with my diet. Have not had anything sweet or above 300 calories since November 11th. I was kidding about the pizza lol. Thanks for your ideas! :)

Collect Pandora/Lovelinks/Troll beads. 1 for each 5lb or 10lb (or whatever amount you set as a small goal) lost. And then an extra special 1 when you get to goal

Mine are:

20lbs- Get my nails done

50lbs- Family pictures

75lbs- Michael Kors bag

100lbs- New clothes

I was told by the psychologist to make this list and have goals not to far apart. :)

at my 50 pound loss I went Gwen Stefani platinum blonde and I LOVED it! I'm not considering new clothes as a reward until I get to my goal weight and can buy some designer stuff. For now, I just try to stay as cheap as possible with clothes-I only buy clearance rack stuff, and only when I absolutely NEED something-like when my jeans literally fall off me when I walk!

I started a running program in November, with the goal that I would get me some kick-a$$ running shoes if I was able to stick with the program for 3 months...I just got my awesome brand new Nikes today!

Here are the other rewards I have planned:

onederland=a new purse-either a Dooney Bourke or Coach

100 lbs=some expensive new shoes

Goal weight=True Religion Jeans

I award myself with Pandora charms. When I had the surgery, my husband bought me the Bracelet. And my mom bought me the first charm. Now I add a charm whenever I lose 20 lbs. When i wear it, I feel a sense of accomplishment.

Achieving your weight loss goal should be a reward in itself however I rewarded myself with a day at the spa. I had a pedicure, and a message. Nothing like pampering yourself for accomplishing each goal. Keep up the good work!!!

I was soooo nervous about surgery, I rewarded myself for going through with it with a Marc Jacobs bag I wanted. I will continue to reward myself along the way, it is such great motivation!

Being the new me is the best reward one can have. Getting dressed in the morning and looking into the mirror, I am rewarded all the time, every day!!

New clothes were a neccessity. Even my feet got smaller.

My energy level has quadrupled! My Health! My self esteeem! Socail Behaviour!

I'm 60 years old and I feel like I'm 35!

And this will go on everydfay for the rest of my life!!

What can I possibly do that would be a better reward than that?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
