Tufts New England Medical Center

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know I've already started a thread on "Boston doctors" but I've made the decision to go with Tufts in Boston. I figured people might notice this if it had a more specific title. So... has anyone out there been banded at Tufts??? I would really appreciate any and all information.

Love,

Diva on her way

I am having my surgery at TUFTS on 3/20 I drive in from RI and it's wotrth the trip, they seem to have the most comprehensive program in the area. Check out there web site at http://www.obesityconsult.org/index.htm

Also check out the 2 shows that Scientific American Frontiers did on their program, I also highly reccomend going to a pre-op lap band meeting where you can talk with people who have had the procedure. Good Luck

I have my first consult at Tufts on Wednesday. They told me over the phone thatthey require you lose 10% of your body weight (not excess weight) pre-surgery. That seems like a lot, and I haven't seen any others on here that were required to do this. Was this your experience with Tufts? If not, how much were you required to lose? Also, any other info you have on the program would be appreciated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
