I was wondering if trying to eat hamburger meat is kicking anyone elses butt but mine? I dont care how I cook it...I always get to revisit it in the end. :guess

And I am sorry ....you can only chew chew chew hamburger meat so much. If anyone has found any remedies for this or has any other ideas.....hubby hates ground turkey ( he may have to get over it), I would so very much appreciate it. Thanks!!!!

I've had my band for a little over 2 years and no matter how many times I've tried to eat hamburger meat It nevers agrees with me.....I've tried various different times, chewing, cutting, all of the above and it's never a good thing....which my doctor told me not to eat red-meats because they don't digest good....however I've been able to eat steak like jack said but NO hamburger meat.....sorry I have no solution it's out of the question for me...and many other people I know that has had the band....

Im like Jack - no problems with hamburger, but extreme caution is used when eating steak.

Have you tried eating your hamburger meat with lots of ketchup?

This may help.

I haven't had a problem w/it but I don't eat it often. I usually cook it down and use the fat free gravy in it to "soup" it up. My FI will eat that with bread, and I'll spread it over squash or brussel sprouts.. :)

I don't have any problem with it, but I do always cook it with something. I fry the meat, drain off all grease then cook it with rotel or ranch style Beans or spaghetti sauce. It Soups it up and there hasn't been any problems.

Leighann,

The leaner the beef, the harder it is to eat because it is dryer unless lubed to death. I can eat chili, but usually substitute beef for lean turkey which for some reason is easier for me to eat. I really dont miss hamburgers, although when I was unfilled last year, I hit Fuddruckers and had a 5 oz burger loaded and it was so gooood... I used to be Wimpie before banding.... I 'll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today......LOL

I don't have any problems eating hamburger. I fix it up just like I would with the bun, only use lettuce leaves for the bun. It takes my cravings away for the regular burger.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
