I am on day 4 of my 2 week liquid diet. Previous to this I was on the "Plate" diet (3oz Protein, 1cup of veggies, 1/2cup of carbs). I lost 15 lbs in two weeks on the "plate" diet. When I had my final pre-op visit, they said I was definitely going to loose weight within the next two weeks, espically if I exercised. So I joined a gym and have been drinking my 5 shakes and just Water. I haven't lost a damn pound! When I was eating food, I was 5lbs less at this point. I hate complaining, which I know is what I am doing, but I am starting to freak out, because in all my diet attempts, throughout my life, I have hit 15lbs, and that was it! I could never loose more than 15lbs. I hope this is just some stall in the weight loss. I have been busting my ass at the gym and fighting hunger and cravings, and not seeing the scale go past 15lbs is kinda freaking me out, and making me a little mad mad5.gif !

I need some encouragement please.

Keep up your spirits sweetie. Your diet has changed so maybe your body is reacting to it. You may be losing inches and not pounds per se. I understand that it can be frustrating when the scale is not moving, but there maybe other places you are losing. Just stay positive and strong!!! (and stay on your path... teeth_smile.gif )

If you have increased your exercise, as you are burning fat, you may be gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, therefore you stall on the scale. Make sure you are getting your Water in every day and keep going. You will push through the stall.

Great job at sticking with it and with hitting the gym.

I never thought of that. Being patient sucks sometimes! 001_tt2.gif Thank you!

A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. As does a pound of feathers, a pound of lead or a pound of popped corn.

True, but we're not talking a pound vs a pound. We're talking volume.

A square inch of muscle weights more than a square inch of fat. Muscle is much denser than fat. So if you have a identical sized blocks of fat and muscle, the muscle will be heavier.

Just like a cup of lead will weigh more than a cup of feathers :P

The correct way to state this is " muscle is heavier by volume, than fat". My older cousins used to play that joke on me... " what is heavier? A pound of feathers or a pound of golf balls?":)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
